I just read the study you cited, you do realise 8% of any active dose of a substance would render the efficacy completely void.

It doesn't take 11 days in the sun to dry a cap, and muscimol is destroyed in sunlight too. That same study showed that caps dried for 3 days have roughly 3x more muscimol than caps dried for 11. 3 days only removes half the ibotenic acid though.

Why would a vendor ruin the potency of their own caps? My guess is they probably wouldn't.

I’m guessing the decarboxylation is an exponential curve, as are most chemical reactions. There more then likely is a sweet spot, for optimal muscimol and insufficient ibotenic acid, don’t forget all drugs (according to my medicinal chemistry course) act in a sigmoid curved manner, so as long as a certain threshold of ibotenic acid is present it will be inactive so to speak.

Apart from the (poisoning) symptoms at first sounds like a good OOB experience. Personally I find most OOB experiences (even when sober) don’t give insight but rather freedom from the physical reality. It does take a while to learn how to independently move (you have no limbs). I’m curious if you have much experience OOB?

I guess I have a fair amount of experience out of the body. It really depends on your frame of reference.

Which components are you curious about? I have documented a few of them, here - though most are kept for myself. I'm willing to share if asked. :thumb_up:

Well I’ve never had a very insightful OOB experience, but I’ve also never broken through on DMT or had ayahuasca. Do you find OOB experiences insightful?

I have brokenthrough on 8 drops of liquid LSD, but I still retained my physical body I was just catapulted into another dimension.

Yes, as I said I hope the doses people are consuming are not neurotoxic. They probably are fine in most cases, but the old story of how ibotenic acid is gone because my mushrooms are dry seems unlikely and completely dependant on the vendor supplier's procedure.

Heat and sunlight destroy both ibotenic acid and muscimol, maybe there's a relatively sweet spot, but I honestly can't see anything very sweet in the data. These compound are effectively dissolved by soaking in water (as demonstrated in they Japanese paper), and boiling in acid does not appear to destroy muscimol while effectively decarboxylating ibotenic acid. There's good evidence to indicate that this would achieve a much better muscimol/ibotenic acid ratio.

I have found them insightful, yes. But the insight is usually in hindsight. Sometimes in foresight.

interesting findings in these papers or links. if I read it correctly, the best approach is to boil fresh mushrooms in small amount of acid water for some time and then just drink the liquid.

Once, I ate one small fresh young Amanita mushroom, unaware that it needs to be dried or heated. Not bad taste, but felt no effects.
Dried mature mushrooms from nearby locality were active.

I have definately felt psychedelic effects from eating dried fly-agaric and pantherines, but nothing realy spectacular.

However, these effects where very much unlike any GABA-ergic i know. I always experienced mental and phsysical stimulation and euphoria (may have something to do with NMDA-activation of muscarine or ibotenic acid), a floating kind of sensation, and powerfull visual distortions like the morphing of objects.

Alcohol or benzodiazepines don't do that for me.

I guess i should add:

I'm reluctant to share too much about my personal insights. I don't want to create false impressions that my path is a viable option. I don't know how it would work out if someone attempted to replicate. There's certainly no mistake as to why I was pulled out of the outer body experience as I began to walk down the dark Cavern. If I understood what it meant at the time, then I don't know if I would have made the same choices that I've made today. Though times were very difficult and it felt like I was just struggling to survive, I did find that hope that I had been looking for.

It wasn't simple, nor easy to understand. It took many different experiences and piecing them together to understand the greater metaphor. I'm appreciative of my interpretation, though I don't know that it will be useful for everyone. I'm currently writing a story to share a creative expression of the transgression of events. Parts 1-5 have been posted. Parts 6, 7, and 8 are in the works. There might be a 9, 10, 11 and 12; but I haven't decided yet.
