20cm glass straw as mouthpiece, OK?

Hello,
so I want to build "the machine".
I took a wine bottle drilled a hole.
Now I need a mouth piece. Will a 20 cm / 7.8 inch glas straw work?
Or do I have to cut it? (because I dont have a glass saw)

The straw should be fine for use. If you want it shorter, you can use the point of the drill bit to score a line around it (hold the drill still at the required height and rotate the straw) although I'm not sure if toughened glass can be relied on to snap cleanly so always wrap the glass tube in cloth or, better still, a wash leather when snapping it.

The full size wine bottle seems rather excessive, however. Part of the appeal of the Machine is portability and I would suggest you go for something rather smaller that will fit in your pocket more easily.

One more tip: always use some kind of fluid when drilling glass. Water will do. The concave shape of the bottom of most bottles makes it easy to form a pool where you will be drilling. On flat or convex surfaces, use, e.g., putty or plasticine to contain the cutting fluid.
