The fruits that you ate (upper parts) were p. Cubensis. Truffles are a markedly different experience as you yourself have stated. Cubes tend to be a bit more whacky and many people suffer stomach discomfort. Truffles are a bit more coherent even at higher doses and don't cause the stomach problems that cubes do. A common nickname for them are philosopher's stones. Truffles are actually dense knots of mycelium and are quite easy to cultivate, as there is no need to fruit them.
They are the ultimate set and forget.
There are a few different species of mushroom that are known to form sclerotia (ttruffles). Psilocybe Tampensis, Psilocybe Mexicana A, and Psilocybe Gallindoi (ATL #7) to name a few. My personal favorite has been the ATL #7 as it is very visual and immersive yet your thought process remains very clear.
To the OP, I'm convinced that you could have a better mushroom experience.
I have for several years moved on to brewing my mushrooms in hot water and lemon juice, and straining, for a nice psychedelic tea. This effectively eliminates stomach discomfort.
