4-HO-MPT fumurate to freebase

Hi all,

SWIM took the guidance provided by previous veteran members involving DMT fumurate to freebase conversion and applied the same method to 4-HO-MPT unware that the chemistry may not work the same. The carbonate solution, near-boiling water + 4-HO-MPT fumurate, refridgerator method was used. 2 days left on wait. Concerned for two reasons

1. SWIM put WAY too much hot water in with the 4-HO-MPT but had no choice but to continue the method anyway (or so they thought)
2. When pouring the carbonate solution, the clouding appeared, but a greenish layer remained atop.

SWIM noticed that crystals had already started forming atop the finished solution, and refrdigerated anyway. Did SWIM waste their money? Is all hope for 4-HO-MPT freebase lost?

4-HO-MPT freebase is an OIL - you would not get crystals at all.

Why would you freebase it? To smoke it?

Maybe you might consider making a hydrochloride salt which has quite low melting point of 163 °C, similar to DMT freebase. See Schulgin's notes for details.

There is however a high probably of a fuckup without knowing the chemistry involved and not having proper equipment. The product will probably be heavily contaminated.

I would however advice not smoke it as it seems to be potent enough just orally - especially smoking the HCl can be harsh (there are health risks involved).

Well, that’s a big bummer for SWIM. They appeared to be crystallizing but it was just an abnormally cold fridge. It would be to smoke. SWIM was looking to keep the duration short. 90 minutes is easier to find than 6 hours. It sounds like SWIM is going to simply eat the losses on this one.
