SWIM doesn't get side effects from either of them and he likes them both for very different reasons. 5-HO-DMT is one of SWIM's favorite psychedelics.
For SWIM 5-HO-DMT has almost no mental psychedelic effects and is very visual, more so than DMT. If he wants a strong visionary experience without all the other emotional and mental psychedelic effects, then he prefers 5-HO-DMT.
5-HO-DMT can’t cause a bad trip because it has virtually no mental effects even at the visionary doses.
5-HO-DMT is hard to purify though. SWIM can, but only a small handful of others have been successful at it. All the good sources of 5-HO-DMT contain toxins that need to be removed or you’ll experience side effects.
5-HO-DMT is not good taken orally. It’s best smoked as the freebase. The trip lasts a good 2-3 hours if you manage to smoke 30 mg of it. You can also snort it or take it sublingually, but it’s most potent when smoked. Whether smoked, taken orally (unpleasant), or snorted, the effects still last about 2-3 hours.
5-MeO-DMT is the opposite of 5-HO-DMT, it’s less visual than DMT and more mentally and emotionally psychedelic. If SWIM wants a short LSD like mental psychedelic trip, then he prefers 5-MeO-DMT.
5-MeO-DMT is more likely to cause a bad trip than any other psychedelic, especially if you smoke it. Sublingually or orally, it’s much nicer.
5-MeO-DMT lasts about 90 minutes if you snort it or take it sublingually. If you smoke it, it lasts about 15 minutes. If you take it orally it lasts about 3 hours.
