does anyone have experience in extracting 5 meo? I am very curious about this compound and wish to try it. I have no idea where I might start or with which herb.

The reason you will get nothing from Virola bark is that in almost all cases in which VT is exported, the resin is scraped from it before hand. SWIM has never had a sample of VT that has yielded anything. Ever.

I have smoked some foliage and there is definitely something to it and its not NN-DMT. The leaves are tiny and not easy to collect, I wouldn't recommend trying to collect them for extraction. You would probably need to collect the leaves off the whole plant to have enough to work with.

I thought the Pineal gland also makes 5-Me-O, so it is another endogenous psychedelic.... no ? The pineal makes dmt, 5-Me-O, pinolene, melatonin, a whole bunch of potent molecules. And dmt is not part of our DNA - but I'm not sure what you mean. The McKenna brothers suggested that tryptamines can insert themselves into DNA ("intercalate" into the DNA helix to open it up for 'reading') But dmt is not a nucleotide like guanine, adenine etc etc that make-up DNA. I have wondered if the use of lye can make 5-Me-O from NN-dmt when extracting from MHRB...? Some experiences swim has had seem such rapid 'white outs', seeming to be like what is reported for 5-Me-O.

...? could it be that if you allow lye to chemically react with dmt in water, you make some 5-Me-O..? I was just musing aloud one day trying to help swim , to figure out why some > 35 mg launches end up with swim going straight to the White Light ? ..! Swim never tried 5-Me-O, but the experience seemed so much like the descriptions - ie no colours, and into an-everything-is-connected-to the AllThatIs bliss. Could the extraction tek allow for any 5-Me-O to be made, say if the OH- in the Lye could do this by chemically reacting just right..?
