Hi fams- i recently posted to the 5meo experience thread and was asked to compare and contrast 5meo DMT and NN DMT (smoked) Since there seems to be some interest in this , I thought I'd start this thread and see if anyone out there can offer more input. Of course, I wouldn't know anything about the subject, having never smoked DMT, but my dog has some things to say about it, as he's tried both flavors. In total my dog has tried 5meo once (which you can read about in the 5meo thread) and NN twice. He felt he broke through on NN the 2nd time, but he was also on 1g of syrian rue that time. From what he recalls of the NN trip, my dog was blasted into the atmosphere, he recalls feeling the sensation of being shot UP, high into space, and arriving in a sort of domed space/structure with moving arabesques/islamic architecture motif all around. He was simultaneously aware that a gigantic plant was showing him around , kind of orchestrating the trip. The plant intelligence was ubiquitous and communicative, it dominated the experience. There were many colors and visions, including a sprouting , unfolding and reveaing a beautiful caterpillar like creature and many many more that he can no longer recall (indeed he lost much recollection of the trip shortly after he came down) Overall, he feels that the differences between 5meo and NN were marked. The major differences were these: -NN was a VERY visual experience, while 5meo was not . My dog perceived a void, or blackness, like folding waves of energy on 5meo but did not have strong visions. -overall, 5meo seems to be a more "powerful" substance, it took a lot less of it (2 big inhalations he doesnt know how much was in the bowl) to "break through". In fact two inhalations was waay further than my dog had intended to go. -on NN, my dog was able to retain some parts of his identity and keep the awareness that he was tripping, a plant intelligence outside of "him" was showing him things . on 5meo his identity dissolved for awhile, or should i say it was OBLITERATED and he had the sensation of merging with a larger energy field. -The sensation that he was experiencing what death might be like was quite convincing on 5meo. He was certain he had died for awhile, the entire mood of the trip was "serious". On NN, the trip at times, felt very playful, and he never had the death sensation, it was more like being on a rollercoaster , scaring the shit out of you in a good way. that's all he can really offer having had only 3 experiences total, he suspects that because he was on an MAOI, the NN trip took on a more plant like flavor reminiscent of aya. here is what jim dekorne says in "Psychedelic Shamanism" regarding the differences between the 2: "The subjective differences between the two substances are quite distinct: DMT is very visual, with lots of color; 5-MeO-DMT tends to be more intense, but with less of a visual component. No one who has experienced both would be apt to mistake one for the other. A friend describes 5-MeO-DMT as "the Power" and DMT as "the Glory." There's no denying that a combination of the two can result in the religious experience described in the Old Testament as "the fear of God" p.106 any of you all relate? H
