seeing as rap has a genesis out of impoverished black culture in the US, a population often associated with being "primitive," "stupid," and "negative" I find your OPINION low-key racist.
That's just your opinion, but he also talks about jazz music, which is part of black art too. I really think we shouldn't slap these ridiculous labels on everything. As a black person originally from Senegal, I find rap music pretty primitive as well. But honestly, it has nothing to do with skin color, for God's sake. We can't keep pushing this neomarxist labeling everywhere because it makes black folks look like they're just offended drama queens. So no, we really don’t need that kind of rhetorics, and he wasn’t racist at all. I think rap is a big shame for people in general. Most of it is just disgusting, which you definitely can’t say about jazz.
And seriously, don’t label everything as racist, racism is when you’re always thinking and talking about skin color. Leave black people alone and let us be. To eliminate racism, just stop talking about it- and this is a quote from a black actor Morgan Freeman. This is a music thread though, and I can relate to his opinion about rap.

You don't know what you're talking about. While jazz was derived out of black culture, it's become academic and thus has been removed from black culture in a lot of ways.

I'm black... don't make assumptions. Now you have egg on your face.

Also, that's ignorant. Just because I choose to ignore race doesn't mean others will and that what they think doesn't/can't effect me.

Also, did you even read the thread?

And educate yourself on race dynamics in this country before you try and tell me what is and isn't racist or what does or doesn't have a racist tone.

One love

What’s wrong with it being academic? Removed by whom, and does it really matter? I still see it as part of black art.

I’ve never really had any problems, maybe because I’m polite and friendly to people? I think it mostly comes down to a person’s behavior. Friendly and polite people are always appreciated. When they’re not, it has nothing to do with race- it’s more about how people were raised. Personally, I’ve encountered way more negativity from black folks than from anyone else, although I am black. That’s just one more reason not to bring skin color into this discussion.

Again, look into race relations in the country and you'll answer your own question. In this country, it being academic means less black people are involved. Look at the jazz program at Lamont at DU.

And that's just you, an anecdotal example, when there's millions of other black people in this country that have a very different story than you.

Ok, could not resist to try the new tools out there (including their "you are not allowed to use these words" parts 😅).

"The Traveler's Guide" - Trav

View attachment 103901

(Verse)
Yo, I’m blasting off, mind on a mission
Flexing through the stars, can’t stop this ambition
Bitches talking shit, but they don’t know my vision
Psychedelic dreams, I’m breaking through the prism

Rolling in the cosmos, feel that vibe
Philly grit, I’m here, watch this city thrive
Traveling the ether, nigga, I’m alive
Success in my sights, man, I’m ready to strive

(Chorus)
This is my Traveler’s Guide, through the dark
Mind on fire, igniting spark
Balling through the void, my mark
Psychedelic journeys, light up the sky

(Bridge)
The stars align, I’m breaking the mold
Bitch, I’m untouchable, watch unfold
In the city of brotherly love, I’m bold
Every step I take, feel the power I hold

(Chorus)
This is my Traveler’s Guide, through the dark
Mind on fire, igniting spark
Balling through the void, my mark
Psychedelic journeys, light up the park

(Outro)
So strap in tight, ready to fly
Travel vibes, we reach the sky
Through stars and dreams, we never die
This is our trip, yo, fly high

Kind regards,

The Traveler
I must admit it sounds pretty impressive! I wouldn't have know it was generated. I suppose the base is not generated and comes from some kind of sound library, right?

Hey, enjoy. Rap is good, and I'm eclectic in musical tastes, so I am eventually in the mood for every different kind of music even if it doesn't get to a main playlist of mine. You have a rhythmic voice. My feedback would be that the level of the vocal track could be heightened, clearer and sharper, though I can't criticize because I'm not great at using DAW myself.

Sorry, that was the thread title, and I don't know why the forum software decided to render it like that. I've now edited the post accordingly. It was not in fact my intention to ask your opinion of that particular …specimen. The point was ultimately that your 10 minutes of effort managed to sound clearly better than something that has obviously been pumped through a hype machine for general public consumption. I would hope that additional effort might produce something I'd consider actually, properly listening to - whether that production involves use of an AI tool or not.
I think me having decades of experience with various musical instruments, lyrics, musical theory, audio mixing and audio technology might have made my choices a tad more easy than to what a layman would experience. A.I., with my prompting experience, just made it VERY easy for me to pick the right components to combine it into a song that is made for easy listening.

For a bit more perspective, I just spent the weekend rehearsing playing a 'real', physical, acoustic instrument with a band of 40 musicians, culminating in two live performances. There were moments of being so moved through the flow of the music that I was on the verge of tears. The guy playing next to me had to pause a couple of times himself, drying his own eyes; I adjusted my volume to make up for this - just a little thing that stuck with me, of being there in the moment.

I guess I'm saying this makes for a very different baseline to be judging from. [No rappers were involved in the making of this music.] If you promise to come up with something really good, I'll practise my instrument more often too. 😁
I myself always loved jamming sessions with like minded people, quite some excellent stuff came out of that. <3

Kind regards,

The Traveler
