A Pinch of Background on a Soul Looking For...Something!

Hello everyone! I've just found this forum, and it looks quite friendly and informative. I'd like to start out here by introducing myself, and giving a bit of background on what I'm hoping to learn.

I've always been rather inquisitive, taking nothing for granted unless I had examined it first. I recall at a young age dropping a tissue and watching it slowly float to the ground to reassure myself that gravity did indeed draw objects to the Earth, rather than some law of nature causing the object to cease existing at the point it's dropped at and then quickly pop it back into existence on the ground. I would also entertain myself at night by examining the shadows in my room and through sheer will convincing myself I could see and control slight movements (probably due to the fallibility of eyesight and the brain's part in extrapolating missing visual information).

From there I moved on in studying the world and myself, becoming interested in meditation and philosophy. I took my youthful fascination with altered states of mind (sleeping, wakefulness, dreaming, even delirium when I've had the flu!) and started to look for ways to control and alter my mind at will, to see the world through different lenses. However, I never even grasped at the smallest fraction of potential that an individual has for exploring the universe until I experienced the power of herbs!

Since I became a vegetarian, I've grown deeply respectful of plants. They provide the world with possibly the most beautiful, peaceful, harmonious life, and they provide nourishment to other forms of life, including ourselves. This alone is incredible enough, but many plants go a step further and provide nourishment for the mind, and the soul. Marijuana was my first experience with a psychoactive plant, and although it was great fun, and at times inspiring, it almost felt like going on an amusement park ride. Once I got off, I went on with my life exactly as before.

I first heard about salvia a year ago, from a friend. He showed me some Youtube videos, and I was rather appalled by them. Kids babbling on, unable to form words and sentences, and other kids filming and laughing at them. It seemed pretty pathetic. But still, I was intrigued that something external could cause such a profound internal reaction, and so I began to read about the plant. It turned out that the plant actually had some history of respectful use, and I found out that when used with the right mindset, it could show the user wonderful things.

Eventually, I did try salvia, and I found it pretty astonishing. I discovered what it feels like to experience the physical world with twists, so to say. Gravity felt strange, I could feel parts of my body being moved by seemingly external forces, and I was able to visualize strange, invisible, and intricate frameworks all around me, supporting the physical world we take for granted. The second time I tried it, I went deeper into myself, and for some time forgot who or where I was, or even that those should be questions to ask! I think that my consciousness ceased to be, temporarily, and as I slowly came back, I was quite frightened by the transition, in which my consciousness came back to a body that had been void a moment ago. Still, it's provided me with some great insight, and was an incredible experience I wouldn't undo if I could.

Since then, I haven't had much chance to try new plants I've been reading about, as some are illegal to purchase, and others require lengthy and complicated extractions. However, I look forward to any truths I may learn here, with the help of those more experienced yet looking for similar things as I.

In short, I'm glad to be here, and can't wait to meet you all! :)
