Choices... Choices... So many choices...

What do these choices mean?

If you choose 4... You'll get halfway through the door

If you choose 3... Now you will start to see

If you choose 2... Feel your grip getting loose

If you choose 1... Then you're gone

Different potency and ribbons with the cactus? And one would be Peyote? Tricky shit this haha

4 = 1/4 gram mescaline
3 = 1/3 gram mescaline
2 = 1/2 gram mescaline
1 = 1 gram mescaline

?
(And what did I win?) :D

Now you're getting really close. But think of it like this: the answer has something to do with that photo.

I like this.. an highly intelligent being haha

I thought about this answer earlier, but with your last hint I feel more confident.

The answer is where you cut the cactus on the ruler, 1 being the whole thing, 4 being 4 inches less?

This line of thinking is the way. But the riddle remains unanswered.

The choice is: The number of people to dose with that much cactus.

Dose 4 people with that much cactus and it will be a light, gentle trip.

Dose 3 people with that much cactus and it will be a moderate trip, with some visual effects.

Dose 2 people with that much cactus and it will be a strong trip, with obvious open and closed eye visuals and a deeply psychedelic headspace.

Dose 1 person with that much cactus and it will be a massive trip, blasting that person into a completely different reality.

But who knows? Maybe the tea will turn out much stronger than expected. That 4 ribbed Bridgesii will probably kick some butt. Thats what it did to me 6 years ago when I first tried it.

Thanks for the answers that were sincere.

Ok, so I was on the right track.

Tell me about the genetics of those cactus cuts. I have something sold to me as "Short-Spined Peruvianus" that looks a little like the cut on the left. I have nothing in my garden looks like the cut on the right.

The left cutting comes from a plant I've had for several years that was sold to me as a Macrogonus. I've always questioned that identification. To me it looks like a pure Pachanoi. Are you familiar with the most recent cacti taxonomy by Joel Lode? He classifies Pachanoi, Macrogonus, and Peruvianus all together as a single species: T macrogonus. He's probably right. In that clade, if it is short spined I consider it to be Pachanoi. If the spines are medium length I consider it to be Macrogonus. If it is long spined I consider it to be Peruvianus. The plant that left cutting comes from has good potency. Typical for what you would expect from a good quality non-PC Pachanoi.

The right cutting is an unnamed Bridgesii. I got that plant in 2014 as a mid cut. When I planted it, it grew a single 4 ribbed column that stayed 4 ribs until just a couple of years ago when it added an additional rib and also popped out a 5 ribbed base pup. Its strong as hell.

FWIW, I have 2 specimens that look like the one on the right. One has light tan/grey fuzz in the young areoles, on the other the fuzz is a much darker brown. Genetics and naming of both is a mystery, but the light one was given to me by a nurse, the dark one by a doctor!
