After trouble with getting MHRB into Australia, I did some research on acacias. I was under the impression that a species that contained alkaloids would be rare so I did not bother with the research to start with - big mistake. I printed photos of the species that are apparently native to my area then went on the hunt. *Gets in car, drives 10 seconds, sees one of the species, lols, keeps driving, gets on road main road, 2 minutes later notices that this species is flippin' everywhere! more lols*

I was kind of annoyed that I could of known this so much earlier but very content and happy that a plant that is a 1 minute walk from my home contains alkaloids. First I took a sample home to make sure it was one of the species, it is. The next day I got samples from 5 different plants then took photos of them for a proper ID.

This species is either longifolia, floribunda or obtusifolia all of which contain DMT. Here they are:

Yeah I think have the same species growing in my garden. I can't decide if it s Obtusifolia or Longifolia - I am leaning more towards Obtusifolia due to some of the leaves been quite blunt and short kinda like one in your 2nd pic. It has yet to flower as its still quite young.

where have you heard that floribunda contains DMT? Would you happen to have any information of its alkaloid proportions or concentrations?
 
Just do a google search and you'll find all the evidence of floribunda containing DMT you need, for example: "there is a far more common tree and it is called "Acacia Floribunda", which is more common, and has a very friendly, refined tryptamine content.

Unlike, Obtusifolia, where you will get a small tryptamine content out of the phyllodes from most strains, you will get 0.3-4% from the Phyllodes that is of killer quality and that you can make brews from. " - The Corroboree (Shaman Australis Forum)

Well whatever it is I am currently doing a test extraction on 500 grams of leaf. If it's Obtsifolia the leaves should contain around 0.1% spice. yielding roughly 500mgs. if i get nothing I'll do a test on the bark (the trees I found were relatively young, and I would have hurt them by removing bark). So I'll have to find bigger trees or something to test the bark. I'll let you know the results.
 
Cool, well to my knowledge, leaves or bark are the way to go. But the leaves contain a high concentrate of oil so you'll have to defat. Also it may turn up unsuccessful because its a small ammount, apparently you need to extract a lot to get even a small yield. But nevertheless the result will help me :D

So I was going to basify my acidic solution last night, do a few naptha pulls and then do a defat on the product after acidifying it in some water. Unfortunately my maid moved the jar which shook up all the sediment/plant matter. Basically its sitting in my cupboard again settling. Reckon i'll only get to it again on Sunday. Hopefully I have some results for you on Monday.

I know I am only gonna get a small amount of product, but I'm really only testing to see if it is 100% Obtusifolia. Took some leaves and some bark to a botanical gardens and they were 90% sure its Obtusifolia but needed flowers to be 100% sure.

Anyway. check back on Monday dude.

Update: I basified the solution, added the naptha, let it sit overnight, and pulled it last night. I put in around 75mls of naptha (which I think was too much to preeze precip) But its evapping as I type this and definitely smells of DMT. Will check on it when I get home later. But its looking good so far. I just think yields are going to pretty small. I'll post a pic of product if any.
 
A.obtusifolia has pale cream flowers, i would say your photos are A. longifolia or it crossed with something else. The right "strains of A. longifolia have DMT at 0.2%-0.3% (personal experience) and probably other alkaloids. A. maidenii has been found to cross with both longifolia and obtusifolia, just to make botany even more interesting,

Yeah, I did a bit more research and came to the same conclusion, it is longifolia. I'll be doing an extraction with it in the next few months.
 
I'm no botanist, but it looks a bit like sallow wattle, couple of versions, including coastal sallow wattle, they are spread all over south east oz.... NSW to SA.
 
So I managed to get around 15mgs out of 500 grams of leaf. It smells like spice, looks like spice, but I haven't smoked any yet due to me worrying it has other things in it. (theres an odd smell that lingers in the nose, kinda like plants)

Think I'll try some root bark if I find a large tree.
 
..in A. longifolia, typically (& there's always exceptions in nature)[ in 2 NSW studies] the dmt is approx. 60-80% of the alkaloid mixture.
The most exotic findings (from Vic.)are i think finally referenced in S.Voogenbreider's "Garden Of Eden"2010.

15mg could(by some) be considered a moderately conservative bio-assay level of a mixture of the most likely alkaloids to be present.
however, there is always some risk involved in any endeavour into the unknown.
Preferable if you can get it tested by HPLC or GCMS...

(& please remember, taking more than small amounts of rootbark will usually (unlike mimosas) kill acacia trees...)

..good observation, A. mucronta (a few varieties) is known as Narrow Leaf (or Variable) Sallow Wattle...confirmation of dmt etc. c.2002.
