Acacia species

Curious if anyone has done an extraction with Acacia longifolia... How well did it work... Seems to contain alot less of the alkaloid but recently found some nearby where as Acacia accuminata is over 2 hrs drive to source... Wondering if it's worth it since alot easier to collect or should I stick to the 2 hr drive for a larger pull each time

Don’t think you can get enough bark from it without killing it. I would check iNaturalist. Perhaps there are acuminata closer by.

There's heaps of these trees in my area. I've found a large one that has broken/split down the middle. I'm going to collect some bark etc from the part that's broken off, so no harm will be done. I can't seem to find anything about extractions or what teks might work. Does anyone have any links, experience or ideas? I am willing to experiment, but am concerned about not being able to verify whether I have removed the undesirables in the final extract.

The right form of longifolia is supposed to be good but I've not worked with it.. and there's a few different types. You'll probably need to do a bit of research to figure out the right type. Where are you based? If your over east near longifolia then I'd say acuminata is probably more like 30-40 hr drive..

Of any of the DMT containing species, the leaf will also contain useable amounts. You don't need to remove bark off these trees - this is old and out of date lore that is really damaging to the tree as well. Fallen material is of course best..

For what it’s worth, I recently performed a test extraction on longifolia (South Africa) and got absolutely nothing. I used the same method I had previously used with golden wattle to get a small yield, so I know my method is capable of extracting even small amounts.

Hi rupp. I'm also performing test extractions on longifolia and pycnantha from South Africa. Will repost here on yields (if any). If you have any other ideas on local sources, please let me know!
