Adding MHRB to basified solution while still to hot due to exothermic reaction?

Last night I did a couple pulls from a pretty decent size batch of Mimosa using STB method with Naptha. Around 350g MHRB. It didn't turn out like I expected really. I'm thinking I probably added the MHRB (Brazillian whereas I have been using Mexican) too soon. As in, I believe I added the MHRB while the basified solution was was still too hot from the exothermic reaction created while mixing the base solution.

Anyways the final product turned out a very light tan color and I made very very sure not to get a single particle of the lye/bark/water solution into my evap dish. I didn't freeze precip at all. Straight evap. The light tan product also was a little waxy but not nearly as waxy as some of the yellow/light yellow I've pulled in the past. Could I have pulled other alkaloids or lots a oils due to the MHRB getting too hot?

This is just one more reason why I'm leaning towards smaller extractions. The only problem with doing smaller extractions for me is that I don't do them at my place. I have roommates who would frown on that a bit and I'm just trying to be respectful. So I'm only able to get over to my extraction place once every week or two and sometimes I can't spend that long over there so sometimes I gotta get a lotta work done in a minimal amount of time and with bigger extracts I net more product in that shorter time frame than I would from smaller extracts.

Don't get me wrong. It's extremely active and I like it as much, if not more than the yellow/white stuff. I'm just wondering if me adding the MHRB too soon is what creates the tan product. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Edit: I'm probably going to re-X about half of it with Bestine. Do I need to do a sodium bicarbonate wash prior to the re-x or can I just go straight to the re-X?

I have also done this before, with no problems at all. I would rex and re assess. I dont think you have a problem caused by the heat. Heat will cause you to pull more color/fats I wouldnt worry too much about it. I also wouldnt reccomend doing that in the future. You want to pull the cleanest spice possible.

good luck

Yeah I definitely won't be doing that again. If it wasn't the extra heat, I'm just wondering why it turned out a tanish color as opposed to the normal off white/light yellow on my very first pull. I used Brazilian instead of my normal Mexican bark but I doubt that's it. I'll re-X with as little warm Bestine as it takes to dissolve it all and see how that turns out. I actually enjoy the smoalk as it is so I'll probably only re-X half of it. What's the normal loss in weight from a single heptane re-X and is it necessary to do a sodium bicarbonate wash first?

Synergy,

I just had this happen on my last batch. It was kind of unsettling to me too when I witnessed that "tan" color, but once I tried it, it was some of the most potent spice I have tried to date! While I too strive for the whitest and cleanest spice possible, this stuff definitely stood in a catagory all it's own!

I separated it and put it in it's own vial for now, considering re-crystallization.

I have lovingly taken to calling it "maple sugar spice". ;)

Ive just done a hot water extraction keeping the solution very hot through the whole extraction. The product is very potent smelling. Some dark orange super strength dmt which was re-x'd once and some whiteish dmt that was sc washed that smells super potent too, haven't tried either yet.

I'm starting to think that seeing as hot extractions pull more actives that it's obviously the best way to extract and if you want super white crystal dmt just re-x a couple of times and keep the extra actives separate.

Well I'm back fam. I can officially say those "tan" deemsters just took me further than I've ever been and I'm definitely going to write a very long TR about it. I've decided not to re-X any of it now. I have so much to say. Expect a TR by tomorrow sometime.
