AGHAST

Migrated topic.
I think its a great idea to keep the clutter and silliness out of here! I've been a member at the shroomery for a while, and it seems that over the years it has gone downhill, its such a shame, that being said, there are some very informative and friendly folks there that do take these things seriously. I look forward to becoming a member here. Keep up the awesome work all!

There is really not a hierarchy here, it's simply newcomers, and everyone else. We are somewhat democratic here, and suggestions or complaints from any member are taken seriously.

We struggled long and hard before coming to the conclusion that we needed to have a buffer between new members and established members. We were simply having too many new members that were creating havoc and chaos. The mods do their best to promote people as quickly as possilbe. It's not hard to be selected, simply posting relavent posts, adhearing to the Attitude page, and treating others with simple respect is all that is required.

Welcome Shizam! I hope you find what you find what you are looking for here!

A warm thankyou acolon_5. having had such a warm welcome from people I sense are really openminded and respectful of the sacred, I support how this forum goes about things!

@shizam: these are great link, man. Thanks - Exile Nation is Kafkaesque, and the ex-cops are something else. I wonder, would you know if there's anything similar in the UK?

Once again, thanks for sharing this. Much appreciated.

The UK seems to look up to big daddy U.S, and just copy all it does, especially all the diastrous mis-takes like the war on drugs. Yes, the UK has the highest prison population of Europe, and this --like America--is because of this irrational so-called drug war.

I just read an article in a quick search and it says that the leaders most likely know that decriminalization, as has happened in Portugal, etc, is the only sane way to go, but they are too frightened...ahhhhhhh.
They aint frightened to do war crimes and send off thousands of young people to be killed and have limbs blown off are they?

It is like I say, I think we are the ones who HAVE to change things however way we can, and not depend on these moronic suits who really only care about their power status.
In order to do this we have to take a close look at how people on the whole are being deliberately made dumb, because these governments depend on mindless conformist apathy!

I have JUSt watched this documentary made by Panorama. Unfortunately it is broadcast by the BBC, and they dont allow anyone to see their programmes outsode the UK.

It was about the drugs and gangsterism and violence and poverty problems in South Africa. It is very bad. Really sad to see. The youth out of their faces on all kinds of drugs including "TIC" which i think if I remember right is metaamphetamine.

You saw the shanty towns of corrugated hutches, and battered looking caravans all in godforsaken places where people have to live. Miserable. And the regualr ghettos of built flats, or apartments (for Americans) that are JUST like any inner city squalid places that are in seemingly every country and rife with drugs and crime.

We saw this young mum with her son who was SO off her head on drugs when the camera came (she'd up all night taking them) it had to follow her around whilst she went looking for scraps of the drug on dirty floors upstairs in front of her son. We saw the kitchen, dirty cupboards with no food, nor even any bread in a dirty breadbin, and the electricity was cut off.

An elder who had been imprisoned for 25 years on Robin Island had started the documentary off saying how brutalizing the apartheid system was, and the brutality that went on in the prison there. But at the end we see him. He is living now on that island with his kids and says how utterly sad it is that it should come to this. That all that struggle to end such oppression of black South Africans, what was it for??!

That the very island he had that horrific past is the very place now he feels safest away from Soweto where they will kill you for a cellphone. he said his children don't know what goes on there and he is very worried if they go.

So here we have the same old thing going on. The 'war on drugs', gangsterism, violence, overcrowded prisons. It could be LA, NYC, cities here, Brazil's flavelas, Mexico, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc! Differernt degrees but the very same pattern
