A question came to my mind concerning recrystallization.

I performed this on A/B extraction on MHRB with naphta. The resulting crystals were disposed in three layers:

- The largest one, on top, was made of translucent crystals, like little spines, and had no smell at all

- The second one, below, was lightly yellow, crystals were bigger and had this typical "chemical flower" smell

- The last one was orange, a little bit oily and had a very strong smell.

There was a 4th layer, only oily, which was discarded.

Here are my questions: does really pure DMT crystals have a smell? Is this smell related to others alkaloids, precipitating faster than DMT?
