Fellow Nexians, SWIM is doing the A/B Q21Q21 Tek 2. SWIM seems to have a solid idea about most of the extracting process but here are a couple inquires of uncertainty.

1.) SWIM purchased online 500gm of powdered Mimosa Hostilis, the package recieved says Acacia tenuiflora, Sorry if this is an ignorant question but is this the same thing? Will it work for the A/B tek?

2.) So SWIM's impression of the process goes like this as it says

Note: The tek is designed to do each step directly after another without any waiting periods except those that are steps.

Therefore SWIM is to
- Add the powdered MHRB to the container
- Add the vinegar
- Mix and stir several times over the duration of 20-40 minutes
- Once 40 minuutes is up immediately add lime
- Mix and stir lime and MHRB for 5-15
- Once 15 minutes is up immediately add solvent and stir in container over heated water
- Stir for 5 minutes
- Once 5 minutes is up immedaitely pour solvent into percipitation container and put into freezer

The confusion comes from Step 4 of the Basification where it says
Step 4: Still well a couple of times over 5-15 minutes

Then Step 3 of the Non-polar wash says

SWIM likes to think of using the non-polar solvent like using water to dissolve some salt. Though the salt will not instantaneously become saturated with salt, it will in a few minutes. Same with the solvent, it is the bark and lime that works for hours, not the solvent.

So step 4 of basifications is saying this takes 5-15 minutes but step 3 of non-polar was says

it is the bark and lime that works for hours

So does one have to wait hours after mixing the lime with the bark or is this part alluding to a different tek such as the STB?

3) Also if SWIM has 2 percipitation containers can SWIM mix the solvent for 5 minutes, pour it out into 1 container, then immediately add more sovlent and mix for another 5 minutes then pour into the 2nd container and essentially do 2 pulls at the same time?

Please claify and point out any flaws SWIM may have in the logic for this tek
Thank you fellow Nexians!

I haven't used Q21's tek, but I wouldn't think you'd have to wait hours after adding the lime... a good bit of the DMT should be salted into the vinegar already... letting the lime work on the bark for hours may get more out, so I'd wait several hours before doing your very last pull, but you should be fine to do your first pull within a few minutes after adding the lime.

As to the Acacia tenuiflora thing... that's an old obsolete name for Mimosa hostilis [=Mimosa tenuiflora]. So it should be fine... maybe they label it that way for customs reasons with the recent seizures in the UK?

So after the first non-polar wash SWIM should just wait until using more solvent to do another wash or just wait to reuse from the first wash?

Also that's what SWIM thought about the name, just wanted to be certain.

The product looks good; very fine and pure, no fibers!

Also would anyone know where to obtain a precise scale for measuring spice?

I highly recommend This One. 20 Year Manufacturer's warranty, VibraKill pad, Expansion bowl, calibration weight, leveling feet & bubble (so you know its perfectly flat), two readout displays, and it's accurate to within 2mg.

Well there is these. But be sure to read the reviews, on this site and others, thoroughly. These scales can be off anywhere from 3-5mg, and there is only a 10 year warranty. They will get the job done though, although an investment in a better scale is much worth it.
