Really getting into the likes of Brian Eno, John Serrie and Solar Fields lately... I am looking to expand my collection of ambient music - particularly music without any beat. As I'm know taste of music here is of generally high caliber (ignoring endlessness's recent thread  )I hope you guys can help me out with my search.. thanks :)

'Ishq - orchid' album is great

Some beats in some of the tracks but anyways def worth to check out, it received the DMT stamp of approval :D

Yes , orchid is amazing, will always remind me about my first dmt experiences !
In my opinion the Album "and awake " from ishq is even better (one of my favorit albums ever actually) , 100% dmt stamp of approval (all psycedelics ... )

Also check out carbon based lifeforms - "23" and "VLA" very deep and beautiful.

JaJa on the netlabel Cyan Music is worth checking out too, the Album "endless" is pure peace (a lot of free stuff also).

Pete Namlook had a very prolific output up until his passing and collaborated with a veritable who's who of producers. He's released so many albums it can be a bit daunting as to what to listen to first. Maybe give Air2 and Permutations a try, or his Dreamfish collab with Mixmaster Morris. Try Biosphere. Substrata is a well known album by him. I really like N-Plants aswell. If you don't know him already you could go old school with Terry Riley- Rainbow in Curved air is a well known and well liked album. I would also recommend giving Vaporware/Scanops by Bee Mask a listen (and the Donato Dozzy re-interpretation). There really is such a lot of good stuff out there.

this is an absolutely fantastic and essential thread!

here are some faves i have not seen mentioned yet:

Altus (truly amazing)
Phillip Wilkerson
Simon Wilkinson
Causeyoufair (only 1 release, but stunning)
Hakobune (prolific from Japan)
Jeff Pearce (master of ambient guitar - almost out-does Robin Guthrie)
Harold Budd / Clive Wright (3 releases, "Little Windows", "Candylion", "A Song For Lost Blossoms)

that should keep you busy for a while 😉

Attach a soundcloud downloader extension to your browser and download this guy's compilation mixes so you got 1 hour long tracks of 10-15 ambient songs in a row:
You can also search torrent sites for huge compilations that people put up and then search through them for songs you like.

thanks so much for all these recommendations.. gonna take me a while to get to em all. I've been pretty stuck on ishq's stuff .. so much quality work

For ambient type music Steve roach and Byron metcalf are far and out my favorites. In my opinion half of the recommendations here are not within the ambient genre but are more like psychill

For me ambient music is more serious and real then a lot of modern psychedelic music. I feel like this is because realized ambient masters are not concerned with aesthetics but use the music as a vehicle to drive in the realm of conciousness, as apposed to more beat and melody heavy Psy which for me always has the aspect of a show or a trick where it is at least partially about the artist And demonstrating his mastery and skills as apposed to being like ambient using the music as a vehicle.

I know from experience because I have made both types of music :)
Ambient is very sophisticated music I love it.
