an abnormal dream

Going where life takes me.

I've been having a bout of highly vivid and clear dreams or rather nightmares lately.

the latest was a bit peculiar and left me waking up mildly upset.

I was riding in a truck with coworkers back to where we had left for the day. sitting in the back passenger seat I had been lazily looking out the window when I saw what looked like a shallow ravine in the mountain. somehow I convinced the entire crew that it was a good idea to hike the ravine. we all dismounted and separated out walking at our own paces when I came across a small child walking around without supervision. being a parent I took it upon myself to be this child's caretaker, there were mountain lions in this area after all..

I remember seeing 2 large deer approach, a buck and a doe. the buck was visibly curious but dangerously so, pacing and circling us unusually until it eventually began to behave a bit hostile. after some time I managed to scare it off with a couple of very loud sounds.

moments later a black panther appeared from the direction we had came into the ravine from. it began behaving similarly.curious, but precariously so.. the child kept attempting to approach the panther and I kept trying to keep them separated without provoking the cat. suddenly the panther went from curious to attempting to maul me grabbing me by my non dominant hand. reluctantly I killed the cat. it was either the cat or the child and I's safety on the line. I get the game wardens involved and plead my case, I didn't want to kill the animal but there was no hope for our safety if I kept letting it try to maul me. the wardens brushed it off "there was no choice". I woke up moments later, distraught, upset, angry and confused...

why? black panthers don't live in that area. why was it there, why did it maul me? why was the child roaming around alone....

so many questions.

over all it was a weird experience. not sure why I shared this story but I figured it might be nice to document this seeing as black panthers keep appearing in my trips and dreams. almost always stalking me... not sure what to make of this repetitive presence...

The panther symbolizes someone who has once been trusted but broke that trust. The friendship severed. The child symbolizes innocence and curiosity. The game warden symbolizes a father figure who approves of it all.

Just playing around.

Carl Jung would be a good place to start if you are interested in analyzing your dream. I would start there.

Night Night don't let the panther bite.

In all honesty I'm really just curious about what's up with my subconcious persistently bringing up these panthers. I'm not even that interested in big cats like that. the only time panthers come to mind at all is during trips and dreams or when I know for a fact I'm in mountain lion country.

i think maybe I was so upset because of the fact that I really do try to be as patient and understanding as possible especially with wild life but waking up having just mentally being bitten by a panther would probably be jarring to just about anyone I guess? who knows. I've been trying to keep track of this stuff for myself as a personal and open archive for the future. just to see where my head is and if I notice any patterns like this becoming more common place for myself . I could have sworn I had a trip journal thread going to minimize clutter but I couldn't remmeber where I had it so I decided to make a new thread. see what others think of the whole thing

It might get some ideas going in your head. Carl Jung is wicked brilliant and I really do think you will enjoy delving into your dreams after learning some of his techniques. Please do research Carl Jung Dream Interpretation and you will find some pretty cool stuff to consider.

Dreams are weird. They remind me of DMT in a lot of ways. They disappear so quickly and feel so real. Interpreting your dreams could go a long way in interpreting DMT trips as well. When you wake up or after a trip, it is a great idea to keep a journal. Write it down while it's fresh in your mind. I think you will have some fun with chasing your dreams in this investigative way. I have.

Someone close to me has been having recurring nightmares being threatened by panthers (or sometimes tigers).

Interestingly, it's the same in his case, minus the mountain lion country part as there is no such thing here.

oddly enough I retain almost perfectly vivid memory of both dreams and trips down to the smaller details. i've only lost one trip and thats because I was really over whelmed by the oev and couldn't process it all as it was happening lol

my area is rumored to have more big cats in captivity than there are in some nature reserves across the world. it's not uncommon for a large exotic animal to get loose especially the predatory ones. its so common that we honestly just kind of brush it off really. I know one of my coworkers told me he encountered a mountain lion a few months back at a job site. this last month we've been working a location that is absolutely prime for them between the deer and terrain and water ways. once you're familiar with their needs and preferential "amenities" it becomes almost second nature to predict that they might be around.

luckily I've only had a couple safe encounters with them in nature but I've heard most of the time you don't see them when they attack and that it feels like being hit by a large truck at speed because of how they pounce on prey.

this black panther thing, it's unusual for sure. most of the time they appear curious and interested in a non threatening way. this last one didn't quite feel like it wanted to harm me per se but it managed to get a strong hold on my hand which was what sent me into being defensive. there's definitely something to them that has my subconscious mind enthralled in some way for sure.

hey, this was a really interesting read. the way that panther keeps showing up feels like it might be a symbol your mind is using for something,, maybe something you're processing in the background.

if you're curious about lucid dreaming, the panther could actually be useful. you could start by telling yourself before bed, “if I see the panther, I’ll know I’m dreaming.” that sets the idea in your head. another trick is to do a reality check whenever you think about the panther or talk about it-like, stop and count your fingers slowly, or try pushing your finger through your palm. just something small to test if you're dreaming.

do that enough when you're awake, and your brain might start doing it in dreams too. then if the panther shows up, boom! you realize you’re dreaming and can decide how to handle it, maybe even ask what it wants.

anyway, thanks for sharing this. tracking stuff like this really does help over time. dreams are weird, but they’ve got their own logic and emotional landscape

Male and female deer; feminine and masculine; positive and negative forces.
Your being is working its energies out, the after effects are dreams like these or other thing. You the Conscious Observer is taming and culling what needs to be tamed and culled. It's all in how your psyche rationalizes it to yourself.

You didn't remove this thing (panther) out of hate or malice, it simply had to go. The wiser part of you, the Warden, told you "you had no choice." It is what it is, it's done. You may not notice subtle changes in your life, but they're there. Maybe you're less anxious or can calm yourself easier.

I guess this is what's called shadow work, it happens if we're actively doing it or not. It's like showering, the Subconscious routinely cleans itself, balances out its traumas or misalignments. The Warden, your Higher Self is there with you not judging, he gets it, he was there once lol.

Being some kind of warden, is there a lot of authority, structure, rules, rigidity in your life or a lack of in your life or the lives of people around you? There's either too much or little of it somewhere, with you or someone close to you in your life. Might not be you lack structure but there's something about it that you're... about it.
