An issue, and an Alert for all users of the nexus:

Tricholoops

Esteemed member
Hello everyone, this is no new user.

I have had an issue with my original account, I tried to log in, only to see wrong password message over and over again.
It made absolutely no sense, I know my password. Anyways, so what would be the next "logical" step - to reset my passoword?
I thought so, and then I saw the recovery options, and in there, I have seen different and unknown recovery emails and phone numbers.
There is no way for me to recover that email account. The strangest thing - I had not used such email for nothing, for many many years, except that I linked my Nexus account to that email.
Therefore I have been wondering if anybody else lost its email/Nexus accounts.

So, this is very important, if anybody gets messaged by Harlequin, it has not been me, the Original one, for many months.
I have had already tried to contact a staff member, with no reply so far, so I felt the need to spread the word myself.

I am afraid there may have been a breech in the Nexus' security. For no one else had that email.
Just wish I had done this before. I'm well sure that if there was a breach other accounts might have been affected just as well.

For the moment, for all practical matters, this will be my account from now on.
Dear Nexus staff: I'd like to recover my original account as safely, please, and to find out who may have done this.
I wonder about the old forums, I couldn't yet check out if my user is working there, but I am worried about it.

When did you last visit the Nexus? And when did you first sign up?

Were you using a properly secure password that you don't use anywhere else?

We'll have to see what can be done about this , I'm not admin team though.

@dreamer042 and @The Traveler are generally those who deal with such matters.

Last activity for my user, was May 25th, which I'm not sure if it includes private chats or messages, but I think it was about then, the last time I logged in. First time? Back in the old nexus, back in the ole school times. I've always loved it.

About the passoword, yes Sire! Nowhere else. The new board system doesn't even allows simple or short passwords, so not even if I wanted I, the system itself wouldn't accept a bad, simple password. Therefore I've made sure to have a hard, and very unique password for the Nexus.

Thanks a lot, Transform! I will write to those users regarding this issue.

Blig-blug: Thanks a lot for the reply friend, I do already have some kind of a password manager. I agree with you, I took too long to write about it, I had a berries post, who knows what someone might be using my account for? Probably trying to rip people off and ruin someone else's reputation.

Please, if anyone has been messaged by Harlequin, write to me and/or to the staff. Don't trust the person whose behind that account, please. That is not me anymore.

Anyways, its good to be back. I was missing this universe.

@Harlequin last visit was may 25th this year..

March 11 this year, the privacy policy and terms and rules were accepted by that account.

A hard password is indeed enforced by the new forum.

The newly generated passwords, to use for the new forum, were send to each individual member in a PM on the old forum, these generated passwords are extremely hard passwords, where among others QRNG was used to generate them. There is no know technology that can theoretically and reliable 'guess' those passwords, neither by brute force nor any other known method.

No email-adressen were copied from the old forum to the new one, so there is no way to use your email-address to retrieve the passwords on the new forum for accounts that are never used yet.

The only way that another entity can have logged in on the new forum, is if the password used on the old forum was a weak or owned one, where the entity could login to your account and read your PM to see that newly generated password to use here.

You can check several sites to see if your email-address and other data is owned in hacks or leaks on other platforms.

Currently, there is no pattern visible that this platform has a security issue, though this does not mean this never will or never can happen, so always be aware of your own safety.

Hope your new account stays safe!

Kind regards,

The Traveler
