I just watched some pictures in a 'DMT-containing plants' thread and couldn't help noticing a similarity between some acacia's and anadenanthera's.

Are these plants related in some way like datura and brugmansia are?

Yes. They are both in the family Fabaceae, as well as in the sub-family of Mimosoideae.

Anadenanthera is a genus of South American trees in the Legume family, Fabaceae.

Acacia is a genus of shrubs and trees belonging to the subfamily Mimosoideae of the family Fabaceae.
