Are my tubs contaminated?

I'm growing the shrooms for the first time using 2 monotubs.
I added 2 colonized rye bags broken in pieces to each tub and mixed it with sterilized substrate inside the tub. The mycelium colonized quite aggressively in the beginning and then started to gain aerial mycelium and some coral like structures, so since then I've been opening the lid 2 times a day to allow fresh air exchange. If I notice the tub is dry I give it some misting in the walls.
The problem is since I started doing this the myceliums growth stopped completely, but the brown spots I thought where piss still seem to be growing. It's been like this for a week and there's also no fruiting yet.

Did I ruin the whole thing?

EDIT in the second picture it looks much browner than it actually is because of the light, but it has the same color from the ones in the first picture

I’d recommend removing those tubs as soon as possible. They seem clearly contaminated, and the spores have likely spread, which could affect future experiments.

If you decide to start again, you might want to use a pasteurized medium. In my experience, it tends to be a bit more resilient than a fully sterilized one.

Oh damn, I was really hoping that wouldn't be the case 😭
I guess that's what you get when you get greedy and try to go big without enough experience and proper environmental conditions to handle it..

One thing I have learned from misting is don’t if you can avoid it. It’s better obviously to have proper fresh air exchange and humidity levels. Misting directly really puts a stop to pin formation ime…slows down the colonization increasing chances of contaminants taking hold.

That's what I did but I misted against the walls though.
Since I had getting so much aerial mycelium cracking the lid open was the only way I had to create more air exchange and eventually some humidity started dissipating. Only misted when the walls where mostly dry, every 3 days or so.

Personally, I would recommend AIO bags for beginners. Very simple and easy, and its almost impossible to go wrong.

I did both bags and grow kits. But I take huge amounts and share with friends sometimes so they run out fast. My intention with the tubs was to make it cheaper and gather some stock for the whole next year.. as we say in my Homeland, sometimes the cheap gets expensive.
