ARE YOU MEDITATING OR MARINATING?

Curious to hear about your own experiences with meditation!

Largely marinating here. I used to meditate daily. I fell off my practice. Lately It takes a long time for my brain to settle down. I find sitting in nature with eyes open is the fastest way for me to quite my mind.

Jiddu Krishnamurti has helped me a lot with my mindset with meditation. I just think he explains it well. Putting thoughts in their right place. We want always to have some kind of experience. Thinking about doing this and that and the other and meditation is just stopping the wanting and goings on in the mind. Observing the thoughts and just allowing them to pass without giving them anything to grip onto. Passing clouds.

My life has been a bit hectic lately and I completely fell off my routine. Moving across the country, starting a new job, and just life. I have a nice pond in my new backyard and sometimes I just sit there for an hour or so just watching the ducks and geese. I guess mediation can occur anywhere if you have the right mindset.

Talking about this makes me want to start a daily meditation again. Actually making the time to sit. I have a zafu and zabuton that has been sitting in a box. Perhaps time to get it out.

Thanks for that. I just got done with the video and it was nice to sit and breathe. Funny I could hear doggo's barking video and then seconds later my two doggos start wrestling and growling. It made me laugh that the dogs don't care about meditation one iota! Dog test meditation for me this time around.

And to the O.P. I perused the website and listened to the podcast. Both of which I enjoyed. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for listening and I'm glad that you enjoyed it. Still getting comfortable with the whole YouTube thing.

And those two dogs aren't even mine  They're my neighbors. Every time I open my back door, there they are to greet me, heads quickly popping up over the fence.

Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Judaism are all babysitters.
There should come a point when you no longer need a babysitter…

In my humble opinion, all techniques are doing, even non-doing.
True meditation or non-meditation comes by itself with sufficient maturation.
Truth is beyond our ordinary mind, so any mind created view can never touch it.
Faith and devotion are the life force of any spiritual path.
Peace 🙏

Rinpoche may have fared better if he had a babysitter assigned to him at some points in his life, perhaps ..

I knew it was coming
No one will get the same level of education and meditation practice that were available in Old Tibet.
Even new generation of Tibetans are far from people who came down in 50s.
So I still believe he had wisdom to share. Anyhow, I agree with the quote.
P.S. It's his drunken statement, by the way 😉
