Awful yield

Migrated topic.
You appear to have a lot of lye in the mix...
I'm not sure if there is such a thing as too much lye...?
I have used 20g in 50g bark before with no issues. my normal Tek is 25/30g per 50g bark and 600ml water (20g salt)

If you combine all and add a bit of water it should be OK...is there any chance of testing the ph?
If its too high you can add vinegar to bring it down a bit

Anyone else have any input?
I would like to try adding vinegar (will wait for more replies first to be safe) but at this stage I have no clue on how much to add or how to know when enough is added... I would likely just add a generous splash, try a pull, repeat and see how things go if I had to wing it - I have no idea if that's a bad idea or not.

why add vinegar? what does your tek say to do next?

You say you are pulling with 30ml of Nap
Are you mixing/agitating the mix and the Nap together? Or just letting it rest there?
They need to be mixed and let settle over and over for a while (1/2 hrs) before pulling. This is how the product 'transfers' to the Nap.

Just need to clarify that part...

The tek I followed said I should just stop when pulls yield this little.
I followed a poorly made tek from another site and have learned my lesson - I want to try and salvage this run as much as possible though.

A pull for me consists of adding 30ml naptha, screwing the lid on and allowing it to sit in a warm water bath for a few minutes to warm up. The jar is turned end over end a few times and returned to it's water bath repeatedly over the course of 5-10min. I use a turkey baster to retrieve the naptha then freeze precipitate.

Will spice not migrate (or at least as well) from the bark powder into the basified water or not from the water into the naptha at too high a pH or something? If I have overdone it on the lye and can't work out how much vinegar to add I'll probably go with bringing it up to 4-8L of liquid in total which should make things right if this is a pH issue.

Thanks for the responses so far guys, keep 'em coming!

I would try to get an answer on the question of 'to high ph' first before going for vinegar...I suspect that its ok though.
Be careful not to have too much water in the mix (4-8l in a lot) There really only needs to be enough to make the solution 'watery' and not sludgy so that the Nap can rise.
Your pulls seem fine...

Also as you have retrieved some product already....it could be that the bark is of a quality that has a low yield...food for thought!

Hope this all helps
