hi everyone

i have an interesting observation to share; perhaps it means nothing, perhaps it does...i'd be interested to hear what you all think.

i have both types of bark: Bunk (very low yield consistently) and Quality (great yields). both are Mimosa - perhaps the "bunk" is not root bark

this involves the process of adding water to the bark before freeze. in both cases the same amount of water is added to the same amount of bark.

when i do the freeze/thaw with the quality bark, upon defrost the bark clumps up into little balls that i break up before re-freezing. this happens every time.

when i freeze/thaw the bunk, it never clumps up at all and remains loose powder.

both barks are the same consistency as they were prepared the same way by the same machine.

could this be an indicator of some sort? i wonder... :?:

This is curious..
Could be a sign the the bunk bark isn't being saturated as much as the quality stuff? If it's not actually getting wet, that would explain that lack of clumping.
Cheers,
Marc
