Caapi Extract - Dose in changa?

With extracted caapi alkaloids as per this tek - Pictorial Guide to Caapi Vine Alkaloid Extraction - Harmalas - Welcome to the DMT-Nexus (giving roughly 50x)

What sort of amount needs to be added per gram of DMT? It seems to me that only a tiny amount (25mg?) is needed to match that provided by 1g of caapi leaf, (I'm using other herbs for the base) however I see all kinds of figures around - 65mg, 200mg(!) etc.

Also, is it possible to smoke (not vape) changa in joint-form produced with extracted alkaloids?

250mg harmalas, 1g Spice, 1g Leaf is a nice ratio. I know some like more, some like less, but I found that to be very nice indeed.

These questions are discussed and answered in a number of other threads around the forum, why not look around and read up? I'd suggest the harmala and changa subfora for starters. There's actually a very recent topic on exactly what you're asking, in addition to many other closely related ones.

Also, imo, when extracting alkaloids, it's simpler to view things in terms of dosage of pure alkaloids rather than in __x extract. %alks vary from plant to plant...what is 50x for one vine might be 25x or 75x from another. However, 200mg harmine is 200mg harmine regardless. Granted, full spectrum harmalas extracts will vary in the harmine/harmaline/thh ratios...but even so, 200mg harmalas is easier to compare to 200mg harmalas than playing around with __x extract, imo.

50x is pretty strong, so the same weight as the DMT would be about right. Everyone is different though, so you need to work out what works best for you. I personally like to smoke the harmalas separate, before and after.

And yes, changa joints do work, but they tend to get nasty towards the end. It is burning, not vaping, so it can get to stinking and is best done outside. A regular old pipe would be better than a joint for several reasons. And as a warning, too much harmalas in it and it won't burn on its own too well. Also be careful sharing harmalas, everyone isn't always careful about what they might be taking that could cause a bad reaction.

Good points. So if I had 1g of extracted caapi alkaloids, how would I know how much of it is harmalas?


EDIT - also, what about the people who just use the caapi leaves and say they get a pronounced effect? Surely this dosage is much much lower?

Well, working with the assumption that once you hit off-white/light tan, you're pretty close to pure, then 1g of light tan caapi extract would essentially be 1g of harmalas.

Yes, but also considerably higher than just plain freebase Personally i don't really like smoking caapi leaf, so I choose to use extract. Why not make a few small batches with different levels of DMT / harmalas and find out which works best for you?
