Can You Re-use the Jar with the Basified Solution in an STB tek?

So you know how the first jar you use, you put in water, bark, and NaOH?
Well once I stop getting good yields from it, can I just dump it out and put new MHRB+water+NaOH without washing it? Or should I just throw it out all together and get a new jar?

Definitely reuse the jar! Washing doesn't seem like a huge deal... I just like to keep things clean.

"Doesn't seem like a huge deal" in that it's not important, or it's easy to do? I can't imagine that disgusting black lye goo dripping down the sink/toilet being an easy process..

As in not super important. It's quite easy though. They use lye as drain cleaner. Just dump carefully in toilet and rinse a few times.

I wouldn't re-use it, myself. Lye etches glass. Using the same glass repeatedly over time will only increase the chances of an exploding faceful of base (which you really don't want - unless of course you like the base in your face).

You can make as many threads as you want, as long as they arent repeats. Make sure you read from back to front on these. Our nursery has TONS of questions that have been answered.

I re-use my glass, but as Art said, it does eventually start to eat away, never had problems yet (knock on wood)

I have a lot of questions and not many answers to offer at this point, I don't want people to think I'm some rude kid whose just looking for quick answers never to be back again lol. But whatever I guess. I'm gonna take both pieces of advice on this one and reuse it, but only once or twice
