I just remembered seeing (I think it was in a general psychology class) a video showing the effects of LSD on a family of apes (chimpanzees?). They administered it to just one ape and the rest went apeshit on him. It had to do with the dissolution of heirarchical thinking. It disturbed the natural order. When it comes to pets there's usually a heirarchy, especially with dogs. Subtle, unconscious changes in attitude and behavior induced by boundary dissolving substances is sure to upset the animal, positively or negatively.

This does not apply to turkeys, however. They are the dumbest animals alive. If you jumped off a bridge, they'd follow you.
