I’m wondering if those crystals are something else (did you taste them?) Depending on how the harmine was prepared, the crystals could be sodium acetate or some other salt.
No, I have not tasted them. They are actually very small. I tried the same method, but at 250-260C, but that only created a black dried up liquid.
I have thought about adding a layer on top of the harmine with water in it. That way you would have a cooler layer that could catch then harmine as it evaporates. But I am not sure how effective this is. It may be that much of the harmine is destroyed before it evaporates. I am wondering if the black dried up liquid could be decomposed harmine or if it is something else.
