I read somewhere (don’t have a source right now), that harmine and harmaline sublimate at high temperatures – they go straight from solid to gas. I’m wondering if those crystals are something else (did you taste them?) Depending on how the harmine was prepared, the crystals could be sodium acetate or some other salt.
No, I have not tasted them. They are actually very small. I tried the same method, but at 250-260C, but that only created a black dried up liquid.
I have thought about adding a layer on top of the harmine with water in it. That way you would have a cooler layer that could catch then harmine as it evaporates. But I am not sure how effective this is. It may be that much of the harmine is destroyed before it evaporates. I am wondering if the black dried up liquid could be decomposed harmine or if it is something else.
