Cielo extract from my san pedro

Rising Star
I have heavily researched all the methods this one seems to be the easiest and good yields. I enjoy a good trip but hear peyote and san pedro have a gross flavor. I like boomers but i dont want to drink nasty liquid. I do have a green thumb and like growing thinds. I want to do the process with products from usalabs so i can recycle the ethyl. When i went the website it was overwhelming.

Have you started growing any cacti yet? That's what you'd best be getting on with before concerning yourself with the other CIELO ingredients. You can use the time while they grow for getting to grips with what is essentially a relatively simple process.

Why shouldn't the revolting taste of plant (or fungal) potions be the price of entry? I don't really get it when people complain about this - just stick to your gummy bears and potato chips atd watch a movie if it's that big of a deal, eh?

Which website was overwhelming? The one you seem to be referring to only seems to have one listing for ethyl acetate, and you'd have to get pickling lime somewhere else. I don't think the ability to recycle a solvent is at all affected by the website from which you purchase it.

If you are talking about recycling the solvent via laboratory equipment from the site you mention, then I can see that being overwhelming depending on the amount of knowledge in chemistry one has. I'd suggest taking a look at distillation and fractal distillation.

I've not done it but from my reading ethyl acetate cannot be separated from water or ethanol from simple at home distillation. There are washs to remove polar, non-polar impurities, and excess moisture from the ethyl acetate, sometimes common prior to a distillation, without specific laboratory equipment similar to that outlined in Procedure for Reclaiming "Used" Non-Polar Solvents. Ethyl acetate is a polar solvent though so not the same as linked I'm guessing. Those washes may prove sufficient enough to reuse the ethyl acetate without the additional distillation equipment. Particularly for the primary extraction. One could use small amounts of fresh solvent for recrystallization if the primary extract yielded less clean product with the reused solvent.

It is best to reuse solvent whenever possible but the laboratory equipment required to do so is expensive. One should also assume purchasing laboratory equipment could welcome unwanted attention if you happen to reside in the same locale in that websites URL. Not saying it will, just something to be cognizant of depending on your tolerance for risk and whether other products were/are sourced via the same identifying information. That can start to paint a picture so to speak.

If ethyl acetate is not regulated and easily obtained where you are, you can also do a handful of extracts without worrying much about the solvent. Devote ones full attention on the process and the fundamentals. You can keep the solvent post extract and either dispose of it properly or eventually get to reusing / recycling it.

Doh! You are totally correct... Far too likely the chemist to get stuck in an infinite loop when doing fractal distillation. 🤣 Since I have been quoted into forever history I'm not even going to edit that one out haha.

For the love of god, sometimes it can really feel like it when one's in the lab, ffs, fr. "Why isn't this b@st€rd thing working? *%!#!!" [cranio-mural slap]
