Hi there, I'm assuming my fairly light orange looking acidic solution is ok and that different plants and bark will give off different colours?, pictures of what I've seen tend to look more dark, which mine did until I filtered it through a Büchner funnel which produced a light orange soup with hardly any sludgy stuff in it. Is this normal ? It's my 1st attempt at this kind of thing so I have no idea what I should be looking for at this stage. I should probably mention its a reduction from 4 acid boils with acrb powder

Hi null I said in the post above its acrb powder boiled with distilled water and vinega 5% I've basifyed now till it went black and am now at the third shake and settle stage. I just haven't seen any pics of it that orange and was unsure if it was normal or not. I guess each plant/bark will produce different tones, it was really dark before it got filtered into the jar , I think I just presumed it would filter through the same colour but without all the gunk. How long does it usually take the the polar and non polar layers to separate between shakes? It's in a warm water bath .........
