Column Chromatography

If one were working with LSAs, what would be the appropriate silica gel buffer to use?? I know that there are different kinds of silica gel, and I am jsut wondering which the best to get would be for LSA... Moreover, if anyone has any tips on running LSA through a column (which solvents to use, etc.) I'd really appreaciate that info too...
