Crazy Looking Spice! Please HELP!

Okay, so Ive heard of the infamous "brown goo" that doesnt crystalize, but this is ridiculous!

I did a modified Marsofold tek but I added the lye directly, instead of mixing it into a solution first. When I pulled the naphtha it was super dark, like apple juice. If you cant see the picture, the spice looks like brown sugar mixed with a few white crystals. I am very confused as to why this happened.

Brown sugar is healthier then white anyway so do not worry just joking

You have to clean it my friend who knows what else except spice is in it. Try to re-x it at least.

I would also wash it with sodium carbonate and water to get rid of lye. You will find everything in Wiki

Yes, you can re-x with naphtha, but it will be slightly more finnicky than heptane (may hold more colors/oils than heptane or take an additional round or two). However, white/clear dmt can be achieved with naphtha re-x, ime.

Also, how long did you roll the Naptha in the basified solution?
Did you shake the Naptha in heavily?
Were you very careful when it came to separating the basified solution from the Naptha?


Would highly recommend the wash step.

I don't think Hexane is good idea , re-x it with Heptane or Naphtha. I would wash it first if I was you unless you are 100% sure, there is not lye in it, then you can do just re-x .

To wash it, redissolve it in Naphtha and wash it with sodium carbonate once or twice and then quickly with water. Then freeze precip or evaporate and after you get nicer and cleaner spice you can use it as it is or re-x it to get even cleaner spice.

Just last night I cleaned spice that looked just like yours. It is caused from doing your NPS pulls from basified solution while it is really HOT. It got this way because you added lye directly to your acidic solution, which is a very exothermic reaction. If you do a de-fat before you baseify while your acidic solution while it is very hot you can clean it that way

I redissolved in naptha and washed with sodium carbonate. It's kind of a pain in the ass though because you have so many other "greasy" molecules in there that it very easily forms emulsions (and i was using a sep funnel)

from there my crystals were much nicer looking, but still brown, so a re-x in naptha is necessary.

in my opinion though what you have is stronger than white DMT ... just harsh on the lungs
