crystallization of 4 susbtituted tryptamines

Looking around the net for information on solubility of 4-AcO-MET in different solvents there looks to be very little information.

Could 4 sub tryptamines be crystallized in a similar manor to dmt without any degredation occuring?

I'm curious as to what the crystal structures of other tryptamines look like & if they are as simple to grow as dmt crystals.

I have had expirence, at least once in crystallizing 4-aco-dmt that had degraded into brown sticky crumbles of (I assume) a mix of psilocin/4-aco-dmt.

I free based this with caoh and rapidly dried it with mgso4, noting a bluing consistent with Psilocin degradation. Why I was working quickly.

Pulled with dry acetone, fasa'd to yeild slightly bluish/grey off white powder that remains that color to this day (did this a few years ago) making me thinks fumarates are moar stable.

Can't comment on yields/losses but the product is definitely potent in terms of fumarate vs I assume HCl. And very, very bitter

My advice- don't do it unless your hcls are getting sticky and degraded by moisture, since there will be losses in the process, at least the process I took.

i'm not too worried about potency loss. The sample i have access to was never intended to be bioassayed.
I just like growing crystals & hate wasting dmt :lol:

Well, then i'd say go for it if you want to try my process, i was surprised (delighted really lol) that it worked, and yes the crystals are pretty. Wish i took pics of the process....

Just think of it like doing a mini a/b using acetone as your solvent then fasa, just like dmt really, at least with this tek/process i used.

I'm not exactly sure i'd need to FASA. The sample is already fumarate salts.

Then again, it may have to be freebased & re-FASA'd in order for crystal growth to take place in the solvent.

Maybe convert to freebase & do half freebase crystals & half fumarates

I may test a few different otc solvents to see what the fumarate salt is soluble in and/or attempt a dual solvent re-crystallization.

If i'm able to get post worthy crystals i may post back with pictures :thumb_up:

That is pretty cool info.
Did you use an acid to dissolve the 4ACO before it was based? I have about .5g of brown goo. Was grey/white powder at first. Thought about tossing it but it isn't taking up a lot of space. Can you tell me more about the rapid drying process?

You wouldn't need an acid if your making a paste with caoh. the water, caoh, and 4sub tryptamine salt or freebase works fine.

As far as the rapid drying, just use a dessicant like mgso4 or similar drying agents. After letting the caoh/4sub/water paste react for 10-15m. Add as much as IT takes to dry the paste out almostt aol the way. Then let the rest of the water dry for a few minutes.

Just remember to work quickly, freebase 4subbs and o2 in the air makes for quick degradation. At least that's what I assume from the bluing I saw, thats what happens to mushrooms after they are bruised and exposed to air as well.
