One of the reasons drugs affect so many people differently is because of diet. There are many drugs present in the food we eat. Many spices in particular contain quite a bit of active drugs. We normally eat spices in moderation, but even in such small amounts they do impact you.
If you suddenly went from eating 100% Chinese food to 100% Indian food, you’ll notice that you feel different. Some people will say that they don’t feel satisfied, others will say they feel more satisfied. This is because of a sudden change in your daily diet, which also includes dozens of drugs found naturally in the foods you were eating.
Even jalapenos are drugs. I read that they are used as an antidote to Datura poisoning. They are also used to alleviate pain by some runners. They can be used to unclog your sinuses as well, and can also help ease certain kinds of headaches.
Small amounts of drugs are in pretty much everything we eat.
I love spicy food, so I imagine I get a healthy dose of drugs everyday just from the food I eat.
Nutmeg is said to have MAOI activity. A lot of spices contain MAOI compounds. Maybe a curry mix is actually MORE potent then turmeric is on its own?
There’s a nutmeg mix, I forget the name, but it includes things like black pepper and other common spices, and it is said to be a much stronger psychedelic than pure nutmeg is. It’s got a dozen or so spices in it most of which are not very active on their own, but very active when mixed together, sort of like ayahuasca
