Hey guys, I'm going to be doing a 125g MHRB extraction today and I usually use q21q21s tek with good results..... however after doing some research I've noticed cybs trek can produce up to 2% yeilds.... I don't have a problem using lye or anything.... so if anyone has done both teks I'd like to hear your personal opinions on which one yields higher (on average)

You could do 2 extractions with 62,5g each, one cyb's tek and one q21q21s tek.
Same bark so you report your results and like this, you and everybody else have the answer :)

If I can find some more pickling lime I'll have to try that :) since I turned my basement into an art studio/lab I've been really wanting to try out a legitimate a/b extraction since I have the space and knowledge to do it now. That's what originally brought me to cybs tek.

That tek is not an A/B (Acid Then Base) extraction...it's an ATB (Acid To Base).

The bark remains in the solution.

With A/B the bark is removed before basing. 😉

Ah okay thank you for the clarification. Is the purpose of leaving the bark in the solution to increase the speed of the tek?

I think it is for simplicities sake yes, but don't take my word for it! I think part of the reasoning for leaving the bark in solution is to get extra goodies during the salting. But I generally always thought that A/b is more advanced. I recommend doing both TEKs if you have the time/material ;)

I actually prefer the full spectrum crystals to the white snow of q21's tek. The yellow/orange color is super pretty to me haha. Also seems more potent.

Also, what is the purpose of letting the basified solution sit for two hours? I was under the impression that the conversion to freebase only takes a minute

I think that the longer the bark sits at a high pH, the longer it has to break down cell walls - less time spent on boils and grinding bark, imo. You'll still spend a similar amount of time, but less energy and effort when you aren't monitoring an acid boil that may take a few hours.

When doing multiple acid boils, most of the molecule is already extracted.

I did the exact same tek one where I removed the bark and one where I didnt. Yield with the bark was slightly more yellow but yielded about 30% more. That was with the exact same tek. But if youre doing 2 different teks entirely then theres gonna be a few differences. The longer your bark soaks in the extremes of the pH scale the more its going to break down cell walls and release more spice. I tend to leave my jar soaking for atleast 3-4 weeks, it drastically increased my yields, along with salt.

This ^^

..after acid boiling..and removing the spent bark fiber... try using hot [water bath method]..from cybes salt tek].. with sea salt ..heating..cooling shaking container for 30 minutes each forcing out the alcaloids much better and faster...[for acrb]
It really pushes out the goodies!
