Dangerous to take ayahuasca after a broken leg?

Migrated topic.

Hello!

So my friends and I are to be attending an ayahuasca ceremony in a little more than a week now, however my friend has expressed concerns about his broken leg. He broke it a week and a half ago, by the time we do ceremony it will be 2 weeks and 5 days. His concern is mostly from the drugs he’s had to take because of it. He took small Oxys for 5 days after and is now taking Tylenol and blood thinners. He would still be on blood thinners during the ceremony. Would this be really dangerous?

Ask the shaman in charge of the ceremony. He should know. I would take his word more serious than that of a regular medic.

Have fun on your aya journey :).

No disrespect to shamans, but interactions between blood thinners and harmalas might be outside their experience. Having said that, a regular medic would probably not know much about this either. The most obvious risk I could imagine would be of sustaining an injury under the influence, possibly in a remote place, and having uncontrolled bleeding.

The last time when I was in a hospital due to vertigo caused by mislocated crystals, they wanted to give me medication for dizziness. It wasn’t either a stimulant or a painkiller. I was almost sure it could not interact with MAOI. I didn’t even plan to take MAOI. In the end, I don’t know why I asked them if there was an interaction.

The doctor checked it on her computer in the hospital’s system, and she didn’t find anything. But she was that kind of doctor who likes to keep her patients alive. So, she called the pharmacy to ask it.

It took them maybe two hours to find it that yes, there was an interaction with that medication and MAOI. They called me on the phone and wanted to give me something else. I was sure that the "something else" would be less efficient. I gave them my word I would not mix it with MAOI.

The point is, they had to check it in two systems to find it.

The chance that even the best-trained shaman can provide you with information about possible medical interactions is near to zero. Just think of it. My doctor didn’t find it in the hospital’s system. It was only in the pharmacy’s database.

Besides, if there is no interaction at all, but you are unsure about it, and anything goes wrong on the ceremony, and you believe there is an interaction, you can have the most terrifying experience with panic.

Just don’t do it.

Better safe than sorry, check it out with a professional. DMT does increase your heart rate quite a lot and the maoi can be dangerous in mixture with other substances.
