Defat

I just extracted few grams of DMT but it's very fat and I would like to do a acid defat. Can I use 4% vinegar for the process or is it too weak? And how much vinegar for every gram of DMT?

I was going to mix the DMT with acidic solution to convert to salt and then use naptha to absorb the fats. Then separate and take the aqueous acidic solution containing the DMT in salt form and convert it to base. Then use naptha to extract back. Isn't that what a acid defat is all about? Why doesn't that make sense? What am I doing wrong here?

Yeah, but a defat is typically done before the DMT is in its base form. Obviously, right? So what's confusing me is that your saying your DMT is "fat". Is it in crystal form already? In that case you would just need to recrystallize, rather than doing all of that work. So what does your DMT look like dude?

It looks like very yellow cocaine mixed up with yellow waxy fat. I'm just thinking if I mix it with naptha and recrystallize then I'll end up with the same shit. Or almost. I would need to do that many times so I thought It would take less time to do the acid workaround. I wouldn't need to do that more that once and then maybe one recrystallization. To get it ultrapure.[/code]

Coschi's acacia tek talks about how to do it. I'd cover the material with distilled water and add HCl drop by drop until the stuff dissolves. A recrystalization would serve too, maybe do half and half and post the results?

Yeah that would be interesting. If it looked like you said, my friend would just recrystallize because really, theres less room for error, especially if youre not really familiar with these processes.

you can just redissolve it in a small amount of naptha, your fat won't dissolve, it will gather in the bottom. Just seperate the clear stuff off and you will be good to go.

Swim evaporates the tray of non-defatted MHRB extracted naphtha so that the oils 'pool' on a corner - just tilt the tray a tiny bit. Swim gets the yellow to concentrate that way.... and has become facinated by the yellow spice's effects, vs the white spice...!

Then use naptha to extract back.[/quote:dbef4fd770] that should work fine only difference with what i do is i have the dmt base + oils in naptha and wash that with acidic water three times (3 parts water to 1 part vinegar - taken from marsofolds tek but i'm open to suggestions). dmt acetate is in the water and oils stay behind in the naptha. now basify the water and extract three times with naptha but eitherway it'll be the same result just make sure everything is pretty hot especially when extracting the base (dmt base is not THAT soluble in naptha at room temp) i'd use about a litre/3 three times for your amount

I think I'll stick to re-crystallization.
