DMT citrate enhanced leaf (/changa)?

Hi all,

I am fond of vaping DMT using 1:1 enhanced mullein leaf with the Extreme Q vaporizer. I set it at 200°C, which gives vapor with a hint of harshness, so I'll be experimenting with the lower settings. Works well, though. [Note: I've read that the actual temp of the EQ is about 20°C less than what the display says.]

Anyway, I am wondering if it is possible to make 'DMT citrate enhanced leaf'. I.e., I would dissolve my DMT into ethanol along with X amounts of citric acid, then add the mullein and let the ethanol evaporate. The goal would be an even smoother vapor and perhaps better taste.

Also, if this would work, would the temperature have to be the same/higher/lower than with freebase enhanced leaf?
And just out of curiosity, would DMT citrate e-leaf work with a bong as well, or would there be more problems with burning it for some reason?

(I know about carts and tanks and e-mesh etc., but I like this approach.)

Thanks ahead.

This would work, but you're probably better off sticking with the freebase in this case. When you are using a juice based vape, you are creating an aerosol of the compound rather than actually vaporizing it, and in those conditions the citrate salt is more gentle and more easily absorbed by lungs than the freebase. When actually vaporizing a salt form it requires a much higher temperature (100-110 °C for the citrate according to gpt, compared to the 57-58°C for freebase) and there is potential for breakdown products as the citric acid decomposes.

It sound like you are heating that freebase rather on the hot side too, but since you have it infused into plant material that's probably providing a pretty good buffer, and that is around the temperature range mullein vaporizes at (160°C to 190°C).I know with my arizer I generally get the best results if I give it 3-5 minutes or so to heat up fully before placing the bowl on it and then give it another minute or two with the bowl on to heat the material before engaging the fan or hitting through the whip. I'd suggest sticking with the freebase, dialing the temperature down a little bit, and ensuring the unit and material are fully heated before drawing on it.

Many thanks! Freebase it is.
Glad to have you reply since your posts inspired me to get the EQ for enhanced leaf. Indeed I've also been preheating, and also running hot air through the elbow (before adding leaf to the bowl), because I've noticed DMT sticking to the glass from previous uses.

Quick off-topic question: Have you used an Arizer Solo or similar device for enhanced leaf? The only downside to the EQ for me is that it is not portable and needs a socket.
(Edit: I've read reports on the Arizer Solo but almost all of these are about sandwiching and report varying degrees of success.)

I haven't had a chance to use the Solo. I've heard a lot of reports of it being great for cannabis, so I imagine it would be pretty effective for enhanced leaf as well. Maybe someone with more experience with it will chime in.

I might be wrong but i seem to remember that citrates..[citric acid] ...were more for ...oral use.... and too harsh to be smoked?.
