DMT crystalization in acid-base extraction

Rising Star
SWIM has been reading many different teks, and working hard to learn about the chemicals he could potentially use, and already seems to have a mescaline extraction well figured out, heavily based off of the KASH's A/B mescaline extraction tek. He has learned a lot about it the past few days, and seems to have a rather good grasp on what hes doing now.

But, he is stumped about the (nearly) final step of DMT extraction- whereas with mescaline extraction, it is said in many teks that the alkaloid-infused organic solvent can be mixed with an acid solution to convert the freebase alkaloid back to mescaline hcl and then, the water is evaporated, and the end crystals cleaned with something like anhydrous acetone. And the organic solvent can then be re-used.

He has browsed many teks though, and not seen this done in any dmt extractions teks thus far. He'll be using xylene so doesn't want to evaporate it because,
1: shits expensive, wants to recycle it
2: lives in a small apartment, can only contain the smell so much

And, he knows with xylene, putting it in the freezer wont do anything either.

SO,
Is there any reason the technique applied to mescaline extraction can't be applied to DMT? He would much rather just mix the alkaloid infused xylene to an acid solution, and evaporate that off instead, if thats an option.

The short answer is that yes, DMT can be converted back to a salt - but if your plan is to vaporize it then you are much better off leaving it as the freebase. Salts require much higher heat for vaporisation and even then you'll likely be looking at a harsher inhalation. I'd suggest getting a selective solvent like naptha and precipitating your DMT out of it in a cold environment (freezer or fridge.. the former fairly fast, the latter slower but better crystals). DMT is insoluble in cold naptha/heptane/hexane. This means you can cool your solvent down to precipitate the crystals, and then pour off your solvent and store it for future use. You can continue to reuse your solvent this way for some time.. no wastage. You simply pour off your sovlent, let the crystals dry and reuse it the next time.

Its basically the same extraction but without the extra steps. You could leave your Mescaline as a freebase technically and your gut would convert it to Mescaline HCL. However for storage it will be longer lasting as a salt.

Nice thanks for adding that note lol, i was just about to look into exactly why dmt hcl wouldnt be preferred. that was a lot of help, i thank you bucko
