DMT Does What?

This could be a dumb question.
Does anyone know what DMT does or how it does it?
Some of the stuff I've seen with my eyes closed (with them open is pretty mad too) is shocking.
I cant believe my brain would make up stuff like that.
I know people have theories , but does any one actually know ?
I was gonna buy The Sprit Molecule but it only comes in paperback and I only deal in hardbacks .
Did that Straus dude come up with anything.

On the subject of content has anyone noticed that their lesser creative companions have less profound experiences?

I have noticed that people with more of a forward/open personality have a more creative experience.

I wouldn't consider myself to be significantly more creative than average, and my personality is not open or forward, but my DMT experiences still tend to be immensely profound.

The first time I heard about DMT was when my friend told me this:

"Right... You're unconscious for about 20 minutes, but it seems like an hour. There's me... dancing on Betty Boop's tits. All my mates are standing on her stomach watching... love it!."

Afaik, this is a hypothesis and is not an established fact.

There seems to be confusion here.

It sounds like darklordsson is referring not to DMT, but Tryptophan, one of the 22 standard amino acids.

The tryptophan molecule is almost exactly like the DMT molecule. I forget the exact atoms missing, but it's something small like 2 extra bonded carbon atoms or something added to the tryptophan makes DMT.

This is what they say in the Spirit Molecule. It doesn't say that DMT is in everybody, even though it's easy when watching that part of the documentary to assume that's what they meant. If you go back and watch it again, you'll see that they are talking about the molecule in all of us that is extremely similar to DMT, not DMT itself.


Aside from this fact, Strassman hypothesizes that the Pineal gland produces DMT during events such as birth, death, NDEs, OBEs, etc. This is not proven.

Yes thank you adjhart, it was tryptophan, which before by what i learned by speculation, is very similar to dmt, triptophan, which all things have, and by theory, can process dmt because they are both such simple molicules. Kinda jumped the gun my bad. I need to be specific next time. It was all from memory standpoint.

It's certainly an interesting point. A few days ago a decision was made to 'meditate' surrounded by nature in an area which many are very lucky to live and quite indeginous. There would have been around 60mg in a vape that was inhaled while in a very relaxed state - there was an expectation of having reality completely shattered. However not so.

There was the a semi-breakthrough - like a freeze frame photo being taken on a smartphone and then it was like "here it is" as a surreal surrounding. The experience was showing the finer side of nature and it's imperfect perfection, somewhat of a paradox in it's own right. An amazingly wonderful 'just sit and observe the things you would normally overlook and do so in awe' experience as it all unfolded in front of me, followed by deep meditative state of warmth.

There's been many far out west experiences in the past where complete disconnection occured, but not so much in recent times. This type of experience happens more so when indoors in a warm dimly lit environment with candles. Set, setting and expectations?

I can only speak for myself but there are several things I've noticed that can affect the connection. Atmosphere is part of it. If you're in a room, size makes a difference as well as clutter as well as my position in the room (close to which wall, facing which way, etc...).

Then there's matters of distraction. Phones ringing, dogs barking, doors slamming, etc...can completely knock the experience off its kilter thereby killing the connection. The flip side of this is attention as well as perspective. The way that DMT experiences often start for me is through the emanation of open eyed holograms which approach me. If I remain steadfast focused on them, they will come straight to me, and if they align just right with my perspective, they seem to get a sort of "phase boost" in which the parts of the hologram that have aligned with me become super saturated with neon color. For the geometries that receive this phase boost, it seems to give them more "energy" with which to do their hyperspacial magic, allowing more complex geometries and likewise they can return the energy euphorically back to you. In a well-aligned experience there is a strong connection that unless the unfortunate distraction arises, should result in quite a powerful experience.

My friend says its because indoors there is wiring and electricity through out the house.
I'm not a fan of indoor OEV , being quite new to DMT its a bit much for me, although now I know you can just close your eyes and enjoy.
Outdoors ,in nature OEV are some thing special in my experiences.

Really interesting ,although I don't like the thought of the possibility that the effects from DMT are just the result of my hub being turned off .
Is psilocybin really like DMT?
The part about psychedelics helping with depression and how the mind plays a negative roll is spot on.
Since DMT my life has been really positive and i no longer have the odd moment where I'd beat myself up mentally or feel negative.
That walking mannequin thing flipping about , creeps me out though :|

I don't think it has to do with electric wiring so much as space, so far as I can tell for myself. I'm pretty sure you could do it in a large cardboard box with no electricity for miles and have the same effect as doing it indoors in a similarly sized room. The way that I experience DMT, it interacts with the physical matter of the world to the extent that an entity approaching me will circumvent obstacles rather than pass right through them. When I smoke DMT, hyperspace fills my immediate surroundings like a fluid filling a container. It matches the size of the container/room. When I go outdoors, it all balloons away from me, expanding out greatly.

For instance, I am used to often smoking DMT in my rather small bedroom where I would experience rather small hyper-spaces, but then once I decided to do it in my living room, and I ended up in the same area of hyperspace that I usually end up in, only the typical space had a larger capacity than usual. When I opened my eyes, I realized that it matched the size of the room I was in.

Love your descriptions, especially the open eye holographic type discriptions, so on n' so forth. You explain the visual aspect pretty well.

About the connection-

I close my eyes and meditate beforehand. When I see the eye staring back, I know it is my turn.

I have considered the meditation/state of mind aspect.
However last night I got in from work and i was wound up..
I hardly touched the Changa and it kicked my butt , it was hitting me strong.
It's got me baffled... I just hope it's as effective tonight.
I have reached a final conclusion , concerning the "connection" as "Global" named it.
I was actually considering the phases of the moon at one point :|
My conclusion is that when some thing special happens I consider it a gift, all that I see and feel at the time of the experience I think to myself ,"This is a gift what im witnessing"
You don't demand gifts you get them when they are given.
So the connection happens when a force offers it to you.
Its either that or some thing to do with half moons
