dmt extraction with light naphtha

Light naphtha is used to extract dmt. I heard that light naphtha has freeze precipitation. Also, all the light naphtha does not seem to evaporate in the freezer. Is this okay?



Any tips on extracting dmt with light naphtha would be appreciated.

I don't think it's supposed to evaporate much in the freezer... but I would still maybe consider putting some saran wrap over your container. My container had a lid and still I could smell the lingering smell of naptha along with all my food for days afterwards. Once the spice precipitates/crystallizes out of the naptha solvent you pour it off carefully leaving the crystals behind. At that point you can let your container sit on it's side (not in the freezer) and the residual naptha can then evaporate into the atmosphere. I like to cover my container with a cloth to help minimize dust and other particles landing on the crystals during this period. Also with the naptha that you pour off, you can reuse.

Also it could be wrong but those "white blobs" in your pictures could be water. Make sure you are wiping off your container if you were using a hot water bath before pouring your naptha into the dish.
 
I made that mistake once. Can't remember if the dish had a lid or saran wrap or what, but I could taste naphtha in the food. I believe the gas can permeate thin plastic films, and I believe naphtha can dissolve saran wrap, possibly introducing it to the product.

I think a lid is a good idea though to keep the frost out. I found a glass dish with an hdpe lid and the gasket + clamps. It's apparently a hard combination to find though, I need more of them.

I don't even risk using the same freezer as the food anymore. Using a dedicated freezer, you can keep it clean and turn it on just when needed, so there's no frost pressure. And you technically don't need a lid if you don't care about the freezer. I think the naphtha fumes can warp the plastic eventually. I use a tinfoil cap to reduce airflow.

OP after you decant the naphtha, you can flip the dish upside down in the freezer to drip off most of the residual before evaporating the rest outside the freezr.
 
I think for sure naphtha can dissolve saran wrap, but not so much naphtha vapors. I have used saran wrap to cover an open bottle of naphtha for weeks on end and it was fine, at room temperature. However, it is very, very volatile so if your naphtha is a little bit warm, the vapors can condense on the saran wrap and this will of course start to dissolve it. Also if you of course swish your dish too much/accidentally while transporting it to the freezer, then of course there is also risk of the naphtha hitting the saran wrap.

I tend to wait until my solution has cooled down completely before covering it. But in the interests of safety/purity, you are probably right, aluminum foil is better. Just be aware that one side of aluminum foil is coated in plastic, the matte side (not the shiny side) so everything i said before about hot naphtha condensing could still be applicable to aluminum foil if you happen to use the plastic side down.

it wont evaporate, MUCH, but if the container is open and exposed, at very least some hexane and/or pentane if present, will escape, the chances of explosion are low, but, it will contaminate food for a long time, people have remarked tasting naptha in their pizza pockets long after
naptha isnt as toxic as straight hexane, but, its probably a different matter if ingesting it regularly over time.
It doesnt take much to prevent the evap, just understand that the freezer is generally designed to also dry things up a bit to minimize ice buildup through various design choices, so yeah, at very least use some plastic wrap.
