DMT Freebase and Wellbutrin (NDRI)

Migrated topic.

Research & Development
I have a friend (yes it's actually a friend) who takes Wellbutrin and is interested in experiencing DMT free base.

The information online has been pretty generic so far, and I'm more trusting of the people I know here than some random article.

I'm aware that SSRI and MAOI is a bad combo already, and she's not currently interested in Ayahuasca so I don't need to worry about that. But there is nothing for freebase and NDRI on the substance interaction page.

Known Substance Interaction List

But what about Freebase and an NDRI like Wellbutrin? Someone on reddit said they were fine, but again, would rather ask here. Thank you.

I'd like to bump this topic. I did see a list somewhere that said Welbutrin + Triptamines are ok together. Any new info, or confirming reports?

I'd assume the potential risks of combining bupropion with psychedelic tryptamines like DMT include elevated blood pressure, which could put additional strain on the cardiovascular system, as well as a lowered seizure threshold, both of which are known side effects of bupropion. Adding pro-serotonergic, vasoconstrictive tryptamines would likely only worsen these effects IMO. A sensible precaution would be to implement a small washout period atleast, perhaps coupled with monitoring blood pressure, or even considering an outright switch (5-6 half-lives), if psychedelic therapy is preferred. However, this decision should ultimately be guided by your friend's doctor.

P.S. Not saying the combination is dangerous per se, but most definitely shouldn't be guided by another individual's personal bioassay. I've co-ingested coca leaf along side harmalas and had a blast in the past, would I do it again? or say it's safe for someone else to do, just because there was no percievable harm from the experience? HELL NAHWW!

Wellbutrin suppresses glutamate production which is necessary to Experience psychedelics.

This is the sort of statement that looks far better when supported with some proper references ;)

A few more refs, very interesting field of study:

Yes thank you. The following are quotes from a published and trusted Neuropharmacologist friend of mine:
Wellbutrin lowers glutamate release which is crucial for psychedelic effects
So it will blunt psychedelic
As well as turning your trip into a trainwreck trip via nicotinic receptors antagonism
It's a powerful nicotinic receptors antagonist
Lamictal will inhibit your trip
Lamictal lowers glutamate as well
Rexulti is a dopamine receptors antagonist so it will make your trip much more likely to be negative
Psychedelics work through 5HT2A receptors agonism which leads to mGluR2 inhibition and significant glutamate release
Without glutamate, you can never trip
NMDA receptors are autoreceptors for glutamate. This means when you block NMDA receptors with PCP or Ketamine or something, they actually RAISE glutamate release which further stimulates other ionotropic and metabotropic receptors
This is why you can, for example, have a psychedelic trip on Ketamine.
If you use SSRI antidepressants they will significantly blunt MDMA.

ty this is great for me. i was on abilify, remeron and still lamotragine (lowers glutamate) adderall and clonazapam. like the cautious person i am i cold turkeyd the abilify and remeron and titrating down the lamotragine. just bought a high quality supplement with l tyrosine, glutamine and 5htp today to kick start those chemicals. started off nn a few months ago with some success and sub breakthroughs but slowly getting less and less to nothing on up to 200 plus mg of spice. been researching the glutamate last few days and this makes sense from all i've read from reputable sources. thanks for the post and info
