dmt is produced using dichloromethane.

The solvent used in the production of dmt was changed from hexane to dichloromethane. Then I immediately ran into trouble.
Since I used dichloromethane in the stb method, it did not separate well and emulsified.
I added rock salt and used a muslin cloth to separate the plant pieces, but the dichloromethane did not seem to separate at all.
Is there any solution to this problem? Do I have to throw it away?
Next time I plan to do it with the ab extraction method and without rock salt, but I would like to hear about possible problems with dichloromethane while I am at it.
Is there anything I need to be more careful with compared to other non-polar solvents?

I myself am now wondering the same thing as I have some dcm otw & am about to prepare sacrement anew. Perhaps I'll stick w naptha for the time being (heptane on the ready for re-x as well). Anyone have anything they wish to share on this?

Dichloromethane is impressive because it dissolves plastic easily and, unlike other non-polar solvents, it tends to form a layer underneath. Also, when it is emulsified, if too much rock salt is added, it will be difficult to separate it from the viewpoint of volume.

Yes, the more I read about it recently the more stoked I am to play around with the bottom-heavy nps! Mhrb touchdown from overseas today, btw!

Also make sure your base liquid isn’t hot when you add DCM .. it will make an absolute mess as it boils at a low temp and will come flowing out. So let it sit for a while after you add your NaOH. Room/ slightly warm temp is all that’s needed. Mix gently..

Right on, thx for the tips, acacian. I know much of this info already exists on the nexus, however I rarely have the time to go combing through. Good looking on the assist! Any thoughts on using a sep funnel w dcm? I have a brand new corning 2000ml that I'm itching to try out but I've been reading mixed info re: dcm & sep funnels so I'll probably tread lightly if at all w that one.

Ok i have that in my dmt I put it in when it was worm and like u said it did not separate so I put colmen fuel on top when it was cold and got it to separate but not much dmt came out how do I go about getting my dmt out from this situation im in

If you used DCM first then your DMT will be stuck in that.. I don’t know how the two solvents mix together but DMT isn’t soluble in cold Naptha anyways
