Dmt suspended in solvent

I’ve performed several extractions before but only 1 was very successful with a very solid yield. A common problem I have been encountering on multiple extractions now is that my spice is not sticking to the sides of the glass after sitting in the freezer and just floats around suspended in the solvent(naptha). This makes it very hard to collect after extracting and often causes all sorts of issues. Any advice? On a few occasions this does not occur and I get regular crystallized product on the sides of my glass, but often i can see way more tiny crystals just floating in my solvent that don’t stick to my glass container. Any advice is appreciated! I’m looking to get the best crystal formation every time so any techniques to help during crystallization would benefit me greatly.

How long do you leave it in the freezer for? Do you make sure your solvent is saturated? If so I'm not sure.

Do you make sure your naphtha container is tightly sealed? Access to the air allows ice formation which can lead to floaters.

Another thing that may help is gently scratching the bottom of your pyrex dish with something like a stainless steel pan scrubber before any more naphtha pulls go into it. (Make sure you clean it thoroughly, of course!) This should help provide some nucleation points for crystal formation.

Thirdly, try to ensure your solvent pulls are nearly saturated at room temperature by using the right amount for the strength and quantity of bark you're using.

But it looks like you've at least the last two of these covered, so perhaps you should try having as slow a rate of cooling as practicable. Place the crystallisation dish in the fridge for a while before it goes into the freezer, for example, and if you can enclose the dish in some kind of insulation, all the better.

Finally, try to leave the crystallisation as undisturbed as possible - no peeking, and turn down that Lee Scratch Perry!
