.. does this cause damage to the bufotenine? SWIM has had his bufotenine sitting on a hotplate for about 6 hours now.. only the brown goo is left but it still smells of solvent. SWIM lets it cool down while scraping it around and then warms it up again to move it around some more. then he lets it sit for half an hour undisturbed. then he moves it around some more, letting it cool again. the acetone smell has gotten weaker but its still there..

is it normal for it to take so long? how long should it sit around before it is ready for use? when it cools off it no longer smells of solvent. but when its heated again and moved around it still smells.

put a mini computer fan over it...acetone fumes seem to be 'heavy' and sit inside the containers..so if you have a fan to blow that out..it should be clear of it quicker

Heck,

I use a mini fan and a bowl. The mini fan fits perfectly in the rim of the bowl. Takes less than an hour to evap 400 mL of acetone this way.

Bufotenine is extremely heat stable. It can survive being roasted in an oven. Just keep the hotplate temperature at 500 F (260 C) or below and you’ll be fine.
