I have noticed that there is very little talk about Crown VM&P Naphtha.

Down in the South East there are no Ace Hardware Stores and it seems that Lowes and Homedepot have been stocked with Crown instead of Klean-Strip.

I realize that there are simple tests with Naphtha to make sure it is clean, but with the research I have done, there are very little experiences with Crown posted on the web.

This topic would be helpful for other people who also can only find Crown VM&P Naphtha.

I have done the evaporation test with Crown and it evaporated cleanly and left little to no odor.

I would also like to note that Lowes states that Crown has a medium evaporation rate and Klean-Strip has a fast evaporation rate so fellow extractors should keep that in mind.

I will post my Chinchilla's experience of extracting with Crown once he is finished.

What are your experiences with Crown VM&P Naphtha?

works like a champ, especially for freeze precipitation, the crystallization method of choice.
nobody evaps their naptha, evap is for methylene chloride.

Yeah he is gonna freeze precipitate most of his naphtha, but would like to evap some of the naphtha to get the yellowish crystals that is commonly associated with it. Will then be fallowing it up with some Xylene pulls :d

Wasn't expecting the quick responses, I appreciate it

I use nothing but crown for all solvents from acetone to xylene. You can go to whatsinproducts.com and see that they are pretty much all 90-100% pure. And isnt the yellow stuff supposed to be a lot of N-oxides? regardless bestine is the way to go for slow evaps, and in a shot glass it will yield SHARDS!

From what I am hearing some people prefer the yellow crystals and others the white. My chinchilla would just like to try both.

And I was looking for bestine but again, couldn't find any in my area.

Lol we got Hobby Town (not nearly as good as hobby lobby) but I never heard of Michaels art supply, I'll look into it. Haven't seen one but maybe that's because I never looked for it

I'd think they would have it at any such hobby store. Look around in the model car or scrapbooking sections. Its pricey. The 1st time i got it it was in tiny 55ml cans for like 6 bucks a pc(or like 2 pounds) but its a pricless chem for re-x
