Extract freebase from 50/50 pg/vg

I have a supply of vape juice that has been sitting for a couple of years and I would like to extract the goods and start again.
What is the best way to do this?

Rinse with dilute acid (vinegar should be fine or you can further dilute with water).. rinse 3-4 times. Consolidate 'pulls', make basic with lye, ammonia, sodium carb etc. Pull with desired solvent and continue like a normal extraction.

When I added the mixed vape fluid to acidic water, some yelowy goop separated.
Do I want to keep that? Or is it waste?
