Extract Mapacho to make a strong Rapé

It just happened to me to become well acquainted with the plant ally Mapacho.

I just thought about extracting like 20g dried Mapacho leaves and evaporate the pull(s) on another 10g dried Mapacho leaves to get something like a 3x strong Mapacho extract that is ready to be transformed into a nice and strong rapè with some plant ashes. For nasal application via a kuripe or tepi.

My idea is that it would be more forgiving to the nose as 3x less material is needed for the same effects. I usually do a nasal douche after each rapè session but this won't be necessary anymore if the nouse don't gets too clogged.

- I just tried to extract Mapacho leaves with 99,9% IPA
- Evaporated it
- Got a nice brown goo/wax that smells strongly like Mapacho

- However this goo/wax is NOT water-soluble, NOT solube in vodka and NOT soluble in vinegar. It's so waxy and insoluble that it's even not possible to put small pinch of it under the tongue. I believe the IPA extracted stuff is not active and contains no nicotine.

Any suggestions how to extract Mapacho? I read somewhere else that someone tried it with acetone and the product was active under the tongue. Not sure about that.

There is a shop out there that sells Rapè juices / a Mapacho nose spray. Would like to concentrate such a juicy extract, too.

Caution: Nicotine is active and LETHAL in very low doses. It's also transdermal active. So always be very careful with Mapacho extracts of any kind!

When doing ceremony, we usually just snort the mapacho water infusion.

I guess getting some kind of liquid extract is the easiest way to go.

I found it is more forgiving to the nose when I vacuum filter the liquid and add pinch of salt (just enough to make the solution isotonic). Unfortunately, it seems this extraction loses some of the "magic", it is not nearly as strong as fresh mapacho infusion.

AFAIK the nicotine extraction is problematic and I've read it is not very stable as free base.

You can get very strong rapé powders, maybe look on how those ultra-strong snuffs are made. I would not play with nicotine though as it is a strong toxin (tobacco plant use it to repel and paralyze insects).
