Not only have I heard of Cage and the rest (and have most of their works on vinyl... original copies no less), I actually studied electronic music from one of Cage's partners in crime at the Merce Cunningham Avante Garde Dance Troupe. I have actually met John Cage back when I was an undergrad (so many decades ago - minored in the brand new subject of electronic music & studio production), and I would be willing to bet anyone here a substantial amount of jungle spice that he would not be overly impressed with some of the cookie cutter music that goes around these days.benzyme said:he's obviously never heard of john cage, stockhausen, walter carlos, or kraftwerk. they pioneered electronic music, without the use of a mouse.
All I can say to that, is go see a true psychedelic rock band live... then when your astonishment wears off, go see one of the run of the mill elektro producers live. (Again, not talking about awesome groups like Shpongle, but guys who "write" songs by taking pre-made loops and sequencing them.)DeMenTed said:Imo electronic music is probably purer in it's psychedelic input because it's usually produced by the writer of the track and not left to a studio production team like many guitar bands etc..
And I, for one, will tip my hat and hand you a cigar my friend.benzyme said:well then, i stand corrected.
and i'll come back to quote you, HF, when i pioneer analytical psybient created by modular synths interfaced
to spectrometers

And again, I absolutely love electronic music.
Sounds like you might need a better sound card. There are some awesome external soundcard devices that do exactly what you need. Maybe something like the USB ReLoop. Normally more for DJ style production, but very good midi mapping device for Ableton, Traktor scratch, Dekadance whatever. 4 built in soundcards and actual buttons and faders and physical scratch wheels etc. to drive your set.Infinite I said:Hyperspace Fool said:I have produced music professionally for over 20 years... so yes...
