Finally broke through. And it was terrifying for some reason.

So I just had my first actual breakthrough after playing around with the spice for about a month. I had like 2 glasses of wine prior to it for some courage so I didn't puss out again. And it smacked me like a brick fucking wall. I think I met a demon whose sole intent was to scare the shit out of me. Whatever it was, it's face was up close and front and center like face to face with me. Flashing fast as hell and it kept trying to jump scare me. Like it kept yelling BOO! But it wasn't actually saying anything but that was definitely what was happening. I was genuinely terrified. It's not like this every time right?

It kind of looked like a really in detailed version of some Aztec gods face that you're see in some ancient ruins or something . And I kept getting these occasional flashing that slightly looked like an evil clown

Could be a metaphor for working out your fears. It scared you, but you're okay. I expect the "Boo!"s will decrease as you continue to accept that it's all going to be okay. I think letting go of fear generally yields a big transition in the experience, synonymous with breaking through. It's normal to be nervous every time going into it, then after a few times you just suddenly let go.

The tricksters pulling tricks like jump scares is fairly commonly reported, but it can show you a lot more than just your fears. I still get jump scares too, sometimes randomly. I don't fear it anymore, I don't interpret ill-intent behind it. I appreciate it like I appreciate a good book, or a good dancer, or a good artist. There's something about doing the unexpected, catching the observer off-guard, that I see as vibrantly playful.

Seems like an innate part of life, even animals play and jump scare each other. The jester archetype must be related. Medieval jesters were entertainers, doing magic and different arts that incorporate the element of surprise. Interestingly the jester can deliver uncomfortable truths, veiled in humor. Perhaps why we have meme culture?
